Looking for a 996...
Okay, I've been Porsche-less for too long. A new 997 S isn't in the cards at the moment and I really want to move on from my 993 C4S days.
I'm looking to move fairly quickly so all leads appreciated. I'd prefer to buy from an individual unless a dealer can provde a CPO.
What am I looking for?
I'm looking for a low-mileage, one or two owner coupe that has all service records from new. Absolutely no paint or accident history. Manual is preferred but tip is okay if the price is right.
Lighter colors are preferred but will consider any color if the car is right.
Model Years? I'm open to all
Pricing: Depending on year and options, I'd be looking to spend between $30K for a 1999 to mid-$40k's for a 2002 or even 2003 model.
Yes, I know, I'm covering a broad spectrum here. Condition and history is the biggest consideration!
Thanks!

You know swinging a live cat makes the same sound as a patrol car siren and is far mor effective in locating cars.
As for the swimming C4S, I'm eager to see the resolution on that also.

Did you catch my comment about carfax on your old thread before it was deleted?

Well, I noted that you bought a carfax before you bought your car. If you registered for the buyback guarentee
http://carfax.com/guarantee/hctermsanddef.cfm
they will buy the car back from you if there's a serious defect that is not disclosed on their report, i.e, accidents, milage problems, fire/flood or lemon history... in this case the flood was not noted on the Carfax report - bingo! A buyback situation! I wondered at the time if there would ever be a situation like that and here you are with a text book case.
You have to register within 90 days of purchase... hmm, I think that means that you might still be eligable.
I just thought I'd point it out as a fallback position for you, depending on how the talks with the lawyer go.... you might want to register now, while you can, then depending on how negotiations go you will have a fallback position that will allow Carfax to buy the car back from you.

Good luck with that...

As far as I see it, their contract and terms are published. A guarentee is a contract. If this situation falls within it, then it's a buy-back situation. No argument about it. Carfax are a reputable company and should honor their buyback guarentee, otherwise they are laible to a deceptive practices lawsuit - a much bigger deal than Global is currently facing from Arr0gant.
As far as I can tell, the guarentee will depend up whether a branded title was ever issued. If not, then a claim cannot be made, but if the title was washed and not reported, then Carfax would payout.
