Default few interior mods

Finally got some small interior mods, I installed my $79 ebay pedals which are fantastic. Also got a alumalook front center console (horseshoe around center vents/hvac/stereo) for my bday that Eric at Bumperplugs did a fabulous job on. Also hardwired my V1 which was actually really easy to do.

Next up for the interior, I want to do that thin strip that divides the dash (between the passanger airbag and glove box and also on either side of the steering wheel) in alumalook, and hopefully later the side air vents and the rear center console in alumalook as well. All in good time.

thumbs up for bumperplugs

The V1 has a hardwire kit that comes with it, I basically used that. If you look into the drivers side footwell, there are two removable pieces, one carpet, one leather. I pulled out the carpet one. Looking inside there you will find a loose plug connector that is used for the phone adapter (or something along those lines). It has four wires running to it, the green w/black strip (one of the center wires) is switched power. I used a wiretap to tap into that and ran it into the v1 hardwire kit. The ground I just secured to a bolt that went into metal, looked like a good ground.

The V1 hardwire kit basically has a two telephone RJ-11 jacks, one goes to the detector and one goes to any accessories you might have. I then used the supplied RJ-11 phone cord and plugged it into the hardwire kit and ran the cable just under the steering column, around to the side by the door, up the door (all tucked out of site) and up the a-pillar and then through the headliner to right behind the rear view mirror where I mounted my V1.

I got a lot of good info and helpful pics from this site:

Im not sure how a passport is designed, so I cannot help you with any items that might be specific to your detector, you might need to make your own hardwire kit, but at least you know where to tap in for power and how to run the cable so its out of sight.

good luck!
