Default Valve Stem Damage

Had my second tire go down in less than six months from a cracked valve stem.
The first valve stem crack caused my right rear to deflate very rapidly. Lucky for me I had just stopped the car to refuel after some hard canyon racing. The second valve stem to crack was on the front left and fortunately I felt it going down just after coming out of a turn while out canyon racing.

Anyone out there having the same type of problems? My car is a 2002 C2 that is running Pirelli P-zeros front and rear.

My guess is that the people who changed the tires last probably damaged the valve stems when installing. Now I am considering replacing all of them.

Any ideas on a better valve stem, or does it really matter?

Thanks,

Porsche steel valve stems are shorter than regular commercially available steel screw-in valve stems. The longer valves can cause problems especially with 18" Turbo wheels, what wheels do you have? Generally its a good idea to just stick with the Porsche stems (43mm in length), they are reuseable. The part number you want is #993-361-073-00 ($4-8USD) or if you are using rubber go with #900-265-001-50.

Thanks Jason for the info.

I am running 18" five spoke light alloy wheels. The cut, or the damage, appears to be where the valve stem exits the wheel.
