Default Front plastic air scoops

I keep loosing the air scoops on my car, once again I'm down to one thanks to DC's Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project. Should I just pull the other one off or purchase a new one?

Yes, the ones that collect air for the engine just in front of the front tires on the undercarriage.

Get a new one. I've gone through at least 4 or 5 per side already (my car is slightly lowered). I think the scoop is around $20 and the flap (the other related part - sort of a spoiler) is around the same price or less. Now that you mention it, I think I need to get some as well...I'm over due for sure.

I just installed mine today... The PN for the air scoops are: 996-504-603-00 and 996-604-00, each is $9.80. The PN for the rubber lip (front wheel plash-guard) are: 996-504-503-00 and 996-504-00, each is $10.68. I ordered these parts from Jeff at Sunset Imports. Actually I did not know about the air scoops until Jeff mentioned it when I ordered the rubber lip. Hope this helps.

Actually here is a diagram of these parts. The air scoops is part #8 and the rubber lip is part #4. I needed both parts on both sides and a set of screws and attachment clips. Anyway, you can check with Jeff from Sunset if you are not sure what is missing on your car.
Cheers,

FYI, the P/Ns are different for 99-01 and 02 and later, and C-2 vs C4 etc. There are probably 8 versions.

:gasp!: thats the part im missing on my right front fender!

- its a small plastic splash guard and a ~5in rubber lip that looks like a tiny mudflap or deflector just in front of the wheel. correct?

Penguinking,
YES, that rubber lip is hold down by 3 small screws and it is used as a front splash-guard when you hit a puddle of water. Mine were ripped apart from parking too close to bump-stops by PO. While you are at it, get the air-scoops as well, very easy install. Both parts are cheap by Porsche standards :-) As Orient-Express mentioned check with dealer/Vendor for the correct PN on your model. The PN I gave is for a '00 Cab.

Hmmm.......I was told that these "lips" deflect air to the front brakes.

Botsy67: thanks for that diagram - this is funny timing - I filled up the car with gas this morning and did a quick walk around the car, noticing one of these pieces (#4 in the diagram, I think) hanging from my car - "oh ****" I said. Now I'm glad to hear this is a pretty common problem and not a big deal. In case I actually try to replace this cheap piece of rubber, do you remember where you obtained that diagram? I'd love to see a bigger one. I just googled the part number but couldn't find a picture of this stuff. I want to make sure I get the proper screws and attachment clips.

Porsche makes the parts catalog available for FREE in Adobe .pdf format.
