Nope, not a licensed pilot, though I have flown a Cessna and a Tampico a few times with an instructor. Truly an amazing experience and makes you realized just how incredible the notion of actually getting off the ground (and staying there) really is. Especially thrilling to bank hard in turns. Reminds me of riding a motorcycle. Then again, you might say I have flown on a motorcycle given the speeds achieved.

I've been an idiot for years, but at least we're idiots who drive Porsches! I also put my top up whenever something is more than a short errand. If it is a short errand and the top stays down, I just lock my detector in the center consule, as I don't have it permanently mounted.
I put the top up mainly to protect from sun, bird droppings, dust, dirt, etc...yes, I am overly **** about keeping it clean.

I generally just put the detector under the seat or in the door bin with the windows up. I will also put it in the trunk and lock the doors and I always put my laptop in there, never just locked in the car. With a convertible I don't want anything in the car within sight that would temp someone to force their way in.
If I am gone for very long I will put the top up in the sun. I often will have the top down for weeks and have not noticed any wrinkles. It is also down for a couple months each year when I put the hard top on.
I don't believe the sensors will work inside the car unless the little button deal is pushed in where the latch hooks to the windshield frame. I would guess if you had some sort of clip that would hold the button down the sensors would work with the top down. If I am worried about someone getting in I just put the top up.

I always leave my top down, and I don't have to worry about my radar detector being stolen, because
it's a Passport 8500!!
If I had a V1, I'd hire a security guard!
Just kidding.
8500 is a great detector, and fairly well hidden from the exterior.

As such, Kim, forget my wrinkle comment.

I leave my top down with the radar detector in it all the time if I'm in close range or not gone for too long. With the windows up it does make it hard to grab, and it's also hard to see since I have it tucked above the rear view mirror and below the visor. Someone would have to be looking for it.

There is a little red clip available from porsche directly I believe, and i have seen alot of them on ebay. it clips on the roof rail, and depresses that little switch, making the car think that the roof is up. then the car will arm the motion sensors with the alarm. just my 2/100 of a buck

It will not fit the 996 Cab.
