Post AAHHGG! Some Moron hit my new Porsche today!

Ahg! I only have had my new baby for three weeks and while I was eating lunch with my wife today some moron backed into my passinger side door and gashed the paint and scrached an area about six inches around the gash all to hell.

I got a repare estimate from Niello porsche in Sacramento Ca, and the damage is over $1,500. Don't want to report to my insurance as being 22 my rates are already quite good, and I don't want to give them any reasons to make them even better.

Ahg! I just want to <img border="0" alt="[crying]" title="" src="graemlins/crying.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[crying]" title="" src="graemlins/crying.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[crying]" title="" src="graemlins/crying.gif" />

Man that sucks! Sorry to hear that. Report it to the police and take pictures...even if just for the record. You never know when you might need pics and info.

I'd see if the police will take a report (may not if the car was on private property) and if not, ask them to make a "log entry" (the guy who talks to you doesn't make a formal report, but logs on his activity sheet that he spoke to you re. a hit and run).

If your insurance company doesn't hold accidents that weren't your fault against you, file a claim.

This just happened to a friend of mine in Fresno a few months ago.

The people left the scene but a good citizen got the license number AND spent 30 minutes going from office to office to find the owner of the damaged car.

He called the police and the driver was arrested for a felony and taken to jail. Why? the nice police officer estimated the damage to be in excess of $5,000 (the point it becomes a felony) based on the damage and the type of car!

My insurance company said that *any* claim that they can not collect from someone else will increase my rates.

For example. A pallet fell off of a Semi and hit my Corvette about a year ago, the CHP listed the trucking company as at fault, however my insurane co was unable to collect from them (they made up some BS) and my rates went up. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />
