Carrera badge colors.
My carrera badge disappears in the AS body. I'm thinking of painting the logo. Black for the Carrera 4 part, then ruby red for the S part to go with the red stripe. What do you all think? Nice? Tacky?

I had a similar thoght with my 02 C4 Cab. Was going to paint calipers red. I have a "plug" with PORSCHE on it that is in the original RMounted brake lite. (It's now on my spoiler. Then I was going to paint the "Carrera 4 Badge" because it's silver. Then I decided to go just the opposite way....minimalist.
1. Left the calipers silver
2. Changed the hood badge from gold to silver
3. Didn't paint the word "porsche" in the plug
4. Changed the gold badged wheel center caps to silver based with black and red
5. And lastly I'm going to remove the Carrera 4 rear badge and in it's place put a silver "911" logo from Weissach edition badge.
BTW, my car is Arctic Silver.
My only other project is to change the gold badge on my steering wheel to silver based ala the way it was suggested in August issue of Excellence.
How's that for "subtle minimalist?"

I like the minimalist approach, but I do like a little color. Almost stayed with the yellow sidelights, but the uniqueness of the clear sidelights in the US got the better of me. I also changed the silver/grey/titanium C4S logo on the wheel center caps to the gold and red Porsche crest.
So, I was thinking, the colored Porsche crest in the front hood and on the sides with the wheels in gold and red, then a colored Carrera 4S logo in the back. Gold Carrera 4 lettering is definitely barf city, so I was thinking Black Carrera 4 lettering then paint the titanium S in red simillar to the red strip across the back.
Just a hint of color in the otherwise pristine siver and black car.

First off... to each their own, your car you do as you like.
It reminds me of the red "R" or "S" (as in R-Type) on the back of my buddies Acura. <img src="graemlins/icon501.gif" border="0" alt="[icon501]" />
I think I would prefer the minimalist approach. I say leave it alone or remove it all together.

When I picked up my car a month ago, I was looking at it from all angles, as new owners are wont to do! Did my highly discerning eye (after all, I am a Porsche owner) detect a flaw????? Yes I did! The Carrera emblem in the back was canted down on one end. I asked them to remove and/or replace it. The dealer was happy to replace it but they had none in stock. I opted for removal, and it looks GREAT!! Sooo clean!!!!
The people who know Porsche, know a C2 when they see it, badge or no. The people who do not, just see it as a Porsche, and model is not important!
Go for the look you think looks best for your car. I like the clean look!

Thanks for the input, all. The problem is, I like them both, but both also have shortcomings. The original almost disappears in the AS background, while the other one may be too colorful. So, I was looking for some feedback. Thanks again.

Palting,
I got the solution for you, take a look to the Cayenne (is just un example)spot in the <a href="http://www.porsche.ch/francais/default.htm" target="_blank">Porsche web site</a> . The color of the logo is like dark titanium, really awesome. <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" />
just my 0.02...

I'm getting convinced to get the colored one. I'll probably go a bit darker red than what I used on the pic, to come closer to the red of the red strip. I'll paint a new logo and keep the originals just in case I change my mind. Thanks to all who helped.
Don, if minimalist is what you want, no logo at all is best. With your new nose, nobody will know what you've got!

You're right...no emblem for me on the back. However I do like Palting's idea with his color combination. It will be tasteful, yet have that "exclusive" look to it...and that's what counts!
