Clunking noise when I turn right. Help!!!
Recently I notice that there's a clunking sound coming from the front when I make a hard right turn. Anybody experience similar problem? Is there any problem w/my sway bar or suspension?

Wilam,
That is exactly what happened on my 993 a month ago.. had just put on some new RUF wheels, thought they were creating a clearance problem, but topped up the power steering fluid and hey presto...no more clunking, grinding noise....
If only all Porsche problems were that simple...
Cheers

has similar prob but on much older car - the rubber at the end of the steering rack had perished/broken so when i came to the furthest point on the steering lock metal hit metal making the clunk noise - on a modern pcar doubt same prob

My last clunk when turning in one direction turned out to be loose lug nuts on one front corner. Easy find and fix, but very scary. I can't believe I forgot to torque that one wheel down. Or was it the guy who did the alignment the day before? That's even scarier.

Maybe better late than never. Had the same complaint on my 99 C2. On an unloaded right hand turn I heard a sharp metallic rap. Dealer looked at the sway bar and tightened it assuming that was it. Nope, then we changed the entire right front stut complete. Nothing. Then a mechanic, not a parts replacer, got into the car and figured out that it was a loose sunroof track. Tightened that and the problem disappeared.

The problem only occurr when I turned right, went over a bump. I heard a metallic tap noise in the front. Sounds like something hitting the car's body. But there's no sound under normal or hard right turns.
What damage will done to the car if the strut mount is not fixed? My dealer is almost a hour away. I don't have time to take my car in until next week.

Are you using stock size tires?
Sounds like you might have got a bit of rub when turned in to an extream amount? IF you don't hear it any other time I doubt it your strut...just take it easy until you can get it looked at.
You might have just had the whole ting bound up very tight in the turn and you got some spring rub.
Does it do it all the time?

Hate to even ask, but have you checked there is nothing loose in the trunk, including the spare?
May not be it, but you can check the upper strut mounts easily enough, take off the battery cover and the two perforated plastic screens. 26 lb/ft of torque if any of those are loose.

Let me tell you my experience:
i had my clutch changed and they had to remove the transmission for the purpose..As i was testing the car i noticed a clunking noise in the back at odd intervals.. Also the brake pedal was dipping in abnormally instead of the woody felling it had..
So we raised the car to check out for any lose element..: turned out to be that they forgot to tighten the main shaft nuts that held the tyres! The tyres were rocking about 3~5deg in all directions.. Imagine this a 285km/hr..
