Ah, not again...scraped in a city parking garage
Ack! So here we are 1 week from the Rennlist run to Lime Rock and now there's is an even chance that I won't be making it.
Why, you ask? Ah, simple and aggravating: on picking up my car from my monthly parking garage in the city yesterday, I immediately noticed some damage to the right side of the front bumper. AGAIN (albeit at a different garage this time)! It seems as though it was scraped by another car somehow.
Worse, there is a slight nick on the right front quarter-panel (yes, the metal portion). I'm hoping that it can be lightly touched up and just buffed smooth again, but the bumper clearly needs a repainting.
Worse yet, the parking garage is trying to give me the old runaround by suggesting that the damage had occured earlier in the week while outside their possession. So, I'm clearly going to be involved in a bit of a scuffle to get them to acknowledge their responsibility...which any New Yorker will tell you is near impossible.
Anyhow, so I am going to drop the car off at the body shop tomorrow and hope and pray that the car gets repaired by Saturday so I can join in the fun. And oh yeah, since we all love pictures, I included a photo of the damage from my camera phone....

Edward - OUCH, that SUCKS, big time! It is amazing how careless people can be. Sorry to see this happen to your very nice looking P-car! Hope the repair is pristine!

Don't they have the keys? That looks like it was driven into or over something by the location of the scrapes, not just another car scraping it. When I valet I document the mileage every time and even then don't feel totally comfortable. BTW, I have NEVER valet'd the 911, just the Pepper. I realize you don't have the luxury of parking in the city like the rest of us do but still, there is NO EXCUSE for that damage to happen while in their hands!

I hear you Dell. Generally, I am vigilant about walking around the car on drop offs and pickups and noting any damage with them to avoid this he said/she said game. But I was in a rush Saturday night and am subsequently paying the price...and literally. But, I do like how you mark the mileage on dropping off the car. I'll have to start noting it with the voice memo feature on my phone.
Djantlive, I hear you on the hassle of repainting the bumper again the future, but I factor it in as a cost of ownership. Ah, how I miss living in Florida with park it yourself lots, warm weather, no parallel parking love taps, and my own garage. But then again, there were never any roads in Florida that even compare to my country drives in New York and New England.

Edward,
Take some good quality pictures of the damage in case you decide to sell her in the future. This will prevent anyone from guessing that the car was involved in an accident. You can justify the respray with your pictures.

I dropped by 911 off a valet a couple weeks ago. They had it for 3-4 hours. Took about 15 minutes to get it back (other people's cars were coming and going) and when I got it back the engine was almost at normal temperature and there are 20 miles unaccounted for. Will definately note the miles in the futre, but will probably pass altogether on valet.

Oh so they claimed it was done over a week ago, and they never pointed it out to you? Do you know how fast they would point out that much damage to your car to make sure you knew about it. Screw them... make them fill out a claim form, it doesn't matter if they think they did it or not, make them fill out the paperwork.
BTW, what garage was it so I know not to park my car there?
