Post how do I get rid of waterspots?

Hi all
My car was just sprayed by a water sprinkler and is now covered in nasty waterspots on one side. What is the best way to remove them? Glaze? Polish? Car is a black 996 TT. Any help at all would be appreciated

cheers

Just wash with auto soap or use a quick detailer. If they still do not come out, then you can you a glaze like 3M Imperial Hand Glaze.

Regards,
Dan

I have read on some car detailing forums that washing the car in a solution of vinegar and water will break down the waterspots. Not sure the exact ratio.

Thanks for the info. I'll try the 3M Imperial hand Glaze. It won't come out with just car wash soap. Will the 3M work on an older bmw 325 too? My girlfriend has old waterspots that won't come out.

thanks again

The Hand Glaze won't do it by itself.

First you need to strip the wax - try just washing the car using a mild liquid dish soap. That will take the waxes off the car (in the event your spots are below the wax).

Then go at it with the Hand Glaze if you want. Try one panel at a time with good lighting to see if it does the trick. You may need something more aggressive like 3M Swirl Remover. If you don't need it, don't use it.

After Hand Glaze, use P21S Paint Cleaner and P21S Carnauba.

Done, spot free.

? variable

? 3 black cars?

you sound frighteningly consistent! and perhaps masochistic! white or silver are much easier.

anyway good luck--black does look great when clean. <img src="graemlins/xyxwave.gif" border="0" alt="[bigbye]" />

Cool

Just asked my detailer about water spots or as he calls them aquaspotso.
Any quality fine cleaner wax will remove them. The suggestion about a very weak vinegar (white apple) in water will also do the job.
He states the very best thing, is to FIRST get that TT waxed up with a quality brand waxer sealer. So, what are you waiting for? Get the rags! ;-)
