Post Not Long Now!

I got the call from my dealer yesterday. Apparently my C4S has boarded a ship and will arrive in 2-3 weeks! Would it be strange if I started marking days off in my calendar?

As a reminder, my car is black/black with red stitching throughout, red belts, etc.--

I am definitely going to order Gemballa Competition wheels now and a Fabspeed exhaust. . .unless anyone can convince me that there is another superior choice to this exhaust.

I am still undecided in terms of remote radar. I've always been an Escort person going back to the mid-80's (when I started driving) and I had the orginal model that looked like a paving brick from your garden.

I am also undecided with respect to a Lo-Jack. Of course, the dealer insists it is necessary. Anyone here in Chicago have a thought?

Appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Passport 8500 and V1 are the favorites on the board. I have an 8500 which works quite well, just had it hard-wired into the ignition switch- very slick install . As far as exhaust goes, I hear a lot of good things about Fabspeeds- sound and price is right. I have the Ruf sport exhaust, nice sound- like a 911RS if you will- but just as expensive as the factory piece. Supposedly the Ruf is the only one that actually makes any power (according to Weissach), I can't really comment on that but it sure does sound good. Another option is the Factory Sport Exhaust, very good sound with factory quality and price. Lots of choices Sounds like a beautiful car!

Question

Hey DJ, I have a Passport and a V1 (2 cars), neigher hardwired. I was planning to hard wire the V1 into my 02 Cab. Saw your post and was curious as to why you decided on the 8500. TIA

Nothing against the V1, I've been using Passports for years, no complaints- saved me many times.

Mike Valentine designed the original Escort. He now makes the Valentine 1.

Don't buy Lo-jack. I talked to a former Lo-Jack saleman. There are VERY few police dept. with the Lo-Jack 'locator' units. To begin with they gave the locator units away to police depts. to get good press about the product. Now they make the police buy them, and, of course, no dept. does. They are installed in specific patrol cars so unless your local police dept. has one and that patrol car is available to drive around searching for your car, you are out of luck.

I just got a V1 and in side by tests with the Escort 7500, the V1 must be on(alerting) for nearly 20 minutes out of every hour on X-band from behind. Turning both units around shows no indications on either unit. It just seems like a constant false alarm.

Has anyone else noticed this????
