Default Painted Bumperettes

Maybe this is a question for the Plug Guy so Eric, feel free to chime in. My car was rear ended for the rear bumper cover had to be replaced. the bumperettes were scuffed. The shop said they could be cleaned, refinished, renewed, whatever. They could not be painted because of the oils in the (plastic?). The paint would break down in time.

Is this true? The shop said there is a paintable bumperette but he believes not for my 2001 C2. He said he would try again to get them. I really think the painted AS bumperettes look better. INPUT?

Sounds like they are giving you a line of BS. You really need to talk to Eric about this. Preperation is the key.

Hopefully he will chime in. If I were you I would just ping him anyway.

He might not be giving you BS, though he might be wrong. A lot of body shops out there just have an aversion to painting plastic bits.

If it's BS you walk away saying "What an a-hole." If he's just wrong you walk away knowing he's either overly cautious or just isn't 100% on the ball.

This is the body shop that the P-dealer uses so I believe(maybe a mistake) he knows his stuff.

That doesn't mean sqwuat.

You should see the crappy work the local shop that PCar dealer uses here. 3 or 4 years ago they were great. Now, full of BS, cut corners, failed promises, etc, etc, etc.

You want the best body work you don't go to the dealer shop, you go to the shop that's for guys that build custom hot rods, which dealers hate to use because they are $$$$

We produce flawless, smooth factory-matched finishes on that very same material, so we will be happy to help you if you want to go the painted route.

Just email me for details: eric@bumperplugs.com

True, most shops are not going to take the time, material and tediousness of this project to heart. Our crew does just that, day in and day out. That's why we're here for you!

Eric has painted the rear bumperettes on my Lapis Blue 996TT and my Polar Silver 968 Cab. Perfect match. Highly recommended

Trade the car in on a 2002 or later model. Engine and chassis improvements and painted bumperettes are standard!

Eric did a great job on my '01 bumperettes too.

I got a quote from a body shop before I sent them to Eric for 2x what he charges.

Are they the stock bumperettes just painted or are they different part numbers from stock?
