Exclamation HELP: Drivers door won't open!!

I came back to my car after a meeting and found that the drivers door would not open.

I always use the remote to lock & unlock the car and don't know why this has suddenly occurred? I had to get in on the passenger side and climb over to drive the car.

I can hear the mechanism 'working' but it just won't open, whether I try from inside or out or with the key or the remote. Interestingly, if I attempt to open the door from the inside and my headlights are on, I still get the groovy audible warning that is reminding me that I am exiting the car with the lights on. The problem is that I can't exit the damn thing.

Hope someone can help me on this one 'cause it's hard work for a fat lad to climb over into the drivers seat (too much beer )

TIA, Steve

Maybe you've been hanging around the Yanks so much that you forgot which side you should get in?

Seriously, obviously something mechanical broken inside the door. Time for the mechanics.

Haha.

And where are you at the moment sjw, The States, home in Belgium or are you lurking in another corner of Europe.

BTW the dealer thinks it is probably a fault with the alarm so I'm seeing him next week.

I would say "alarm" too if you hadn't said that you can hear the mechanism working. That sounds like hardware and not software.

Where else? Back, back, back in the USA (to spoil a good tune).

Oh, you'll have to forgive my foul mood. I've been here much longer than I planned and I just want to go home.

It actually sounds like someone tried to "Slim Jim" your car and dettached the latch mechanism. This happened to the passenger door on my wife's car this summer. She locked her keys in the car and the local sheriff tried to get them out and messed up the door.

S. I bet you can't wait for all of this cold weather. I suppose it means that you are not able to drive your porker though which is not a good thing.

Jim there is no way that anyone has tried to get in the car because my meeting was at the local golf club and I could see my car from our boardroom.

The problem has now gone away so it will be dificult to repair if I can't re-create the fault in front of the dealer.

Thanks for the input though.

It has just been snow snow snow and more snow. Cold too. But beautiful. I'd be really surprised if you told me that Belgium was like that now.

Actually, I need to take my car to Stuttgart later this month for work so I hope your predictions do not ring true!!
