Post Tiptronic

I'm thinking of buying a fully optioned 2001 TIP Coupe and reselling it in about a year. Is Tiptronic a plus or a negative feature for resale purposes? Is $58k a steal or just OK for a 13000 mile 1 owner creampuff?

Thanks.

Shiloh, it all depends on your driving needs and style. I don't think it affects re-sale either way. There is a market for both!

the debate on tip resale is endless and unresolvable since there is no real data.

i would note that last year my dealer had a white 99 c2 coupe-tip with 8k mi in pristine condition that failed to sell with an asking price of $50k after 10 mos on the lot. several sticks with higher mileage sold over these months at higher prices. in the end the c2-tip was sent to auction

I have owned two tips, a 964 C2 and a 996 C4 Millennium.....90% of your buyers are looking for manuals. I think in a used cab. it would be lower.

A good friend who has been in the high line business and also owns a Porsche store told me this was the rule of thumb....in Florida it may be different due to demographics.

I like my tip a great deal, but if I bought the car with an eye for resale, I would have ordered the stick, and left out a bunch of other options as well. Mine is loaded with all kinds of "stuff", some of which most 996 buyers seem to distain (like wood trim). I bought it with the intention of keeping it for a long time, like the 928 I own.

I REALLY like the tip and the wife likes it too... so that "tipped" the scales.

Gretch, I'm with you all the way. The stuff I put on my 02 Cab is strictly for our (wife and me) pleasure and the TipS is so my wife doesn't cause the car to shudder every time she shifts..Actually IndyCindy (wife) is more aggressive with the Tip than she would ever be with a stick

Hell, I even put her name on the front spoiler lip! That's worth a lot on re-sale...and the funky rear emblem is a one-off that nobody would want!

And wait until I get the headlight covers on and the mesh grille. Car will be worth bupkus, but what the h*ll.

Right now they are ALL worth "Bupkus" anyway with the economy in the "turlet". Might as well enjoy em......
Gretta has the 3 spoke wheel, light wood everywhere it does not have leather or carpet, and the contrasting stiching (red stiching, black leather, and the top-end option on tunes including a changer. Great car for long drives.

When I want to drive a beast I take Gretch out for a spin.
