Post C4S-C2 Which is faster???

They both have the same engine, correct? And the C4S weighs more. I know that top speed on the C2 is 177 mph and 174 mph on the C4S, but what about overall. On a road course which is faster? Does the handling on the C4S make enough of a difference that it overcomes its weight deficiency? I'm considering one or the other but not sure which one to get. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

MJ,

i think at the RING. the overall power of braking and handling made the C4S couple of seconds quicker(source mabye christoper magazine but not 100% sure). Now, if someone takes the C2 and changes the suspension and gives it a beefer brakes then i would think the C2 would be quicker.

The April issue of Excellence Magazine has a review of the C4S where it discusses the nring times that were run by factory drivers. The C4S was a few seconds faster around the circuit, but is a bit slower in acceleration runs.

The C4S, while slower in a drag race with a C2 and quite a few other cars, was my preference. It offers distinctive appearance, suspension, brakes, wheels, interior options and may be one of the better values ever offered by Porsche.

The Carrera C4S has proved to be convincingly quicker than the current Carrera 2 or Carrera 4 on the Nurburgring. The ride height on the C4S is lower than the Carrera 2 or 4 (by 10mm), and it has the turbo front and rear suspension. And, of course, the turbo brakes. These are all advantages to give faster times on the Ring. On acceleration the C4S is only one tenth of a second slower for 0-60mph then the C2.

All true and proven. The only other thing I'd like to add is that the C4S is also faster standing still

I saw my car at the dealer as it arrived tonight. They'll install the silver painted console and lower the car (springs not shocks) and I should have it tomorrow night or Saturday. I'm a bit thrilled but a bit nauseated that I'm getting an $80,000+ car. I never had a car so expensive.

Once you get into that car and out on the road, the smile on your face will be worth a million dollars, Jim. Take my word for it.

I'm up to 1850 miles. 150 more miles to break-in. Sometime after that I'll have a grin so wide I'll probably need plastic surgery to get back to normal.

Jarama race course lap times published on Spain´s Car & Driver magazine were over a second quicker for the C4S over the C2.

I wonder how a C2/C4 with European M030, 18"´s and Aerokit (which is still cheaper than the C4S)compares to the C4S in a circuit.
