PCNA Sales Figures
Just heard that PCNA sales figures are up 28% for Sept. Can't quite figure this as it appears a significant amount of 2002 inventory remains nationwide given all the deals that seem to be springing up on the Internet. Midwestern Auto Group here in Dublin, OH has almost all their 2002 inventory of 911's still on the lot! Could it be that Porsche is pressuring the dealers into buying more cars lest they risk being allocated less desirable vehicles in the future ?? If so a lot of dealers may be taking it in the shorts right now (not that I feel that sory for them). Anyway just a thought.

You are correct. Manufacturers sales figures are not the same as retail sales. Their customers are the dealers.
The dealers were probably threatened with INCREASED allocations of the Cayenne if they didn't take that boatload of '02 Boxsters , LOL !

Yes, my local dealer also states that he has been 'asked' to purchase more vehicles. This has pushed him to a higher dealer level so that he can command a better portion of desirable model production.
He also states he has sizeable deposits for 18 Cayennes! That really suprised me. Guess we will be seeing soccer mommies pretty soon at the upcomming club meets and rallies.

Foithermaw....
Do those PCNA sales figures talley 996's, boxsters AND Cayennes? What is the breakdown.
If it includes Cayennes, then I would believe the results are skewed due to the additional sales impetus of the Cayenne.
I too am seeing a large number of 2002's going homeless!

Of course not. The Cayenne hasn't even made it to the US yet.

If you go to prnewswire.com and search on Porsche you will find the 1 Oct. press release from PCNA. YTD sales total just under 17,000 and inventories are 1800. This isn't a great deal of inventory to support that level of sales. Boxster sales are down around 2000 from last year and 911 sales up 900.

You could both be correct. If Pcar sales are counted as sales to dealers and not retail the situation could exist where PCNA "sales" are up from last year and we still can have a very heafty inventory!
