if you don't install the "silence" button the PSE will always be in "loud" mode?? If so I don't really care about the button install.....will just "rolll" into my community. The PSE can never be as loud as my neigbors harley , shelby or the one with a 50tis ford pickup, which sounds like a muscle car on steroids.
I have been reading up on the PSE for a couple of weeks now and for what I have read...it just sounds meaner than the stock and more raspy.....and that is exactly what I want.

LET PUT TOGETHER A LIST OF INTERESTED PEOPLE and I can help calling around and seeing how many we have to order to get a better deal!!

IGNORE all verbiage in the TSB concerning removing the throttle body in order to instal a new rubber ring to accept the vacuum lines. Simply buy an extra Y-piece (like the 2 included in the kit) and Y off of an EXISTING vacuum tap. Takes 2 minutes as opposed to hours.....
So basically, instead of following the directions, just connect both PSE mufflers to an existing vacuum source with Y-pieces, and then connect the electronics....?

Do all those parts come as a kit? Can a dealer sell an extra Y-piece a la carte?

It looks like from these pictures posted by Orient Express in another thread, that you tap the vacuum source next to the throttle body in this picture with a Y-Piece

And then run the vacuum tube to this piece where it splits into two tubes one to each PSE muffler...? Maybe an extra Y-Piece isn't needed?

The majority of the instructions for installation are correct, however the only variance is as Kims996Cab said, no need to install a new intake runner bellows just to get a vacuum tap, just use the one that is there. The only additional part you need is another "Y" connector. You can either get a generic one from Pep Boys or get the Porsche one. BTW the Porsche one has a 944 part number, so you know it has been around for a while.

The vacuum tap goes from the intake runner tap to a little vacuum reservoir comes with the PSE kit, then to the vacuum switch, and finally to each of the muffler diverter valves.

Yes, all the parts necessary come with the kit ... except for the extra (3rd) vacuum Y-connector that OE and I have mentioned.

As the TSB directs, the first Y-connector goes on the vacuum supply line to share the vacuum between the PSE Vac. tank and the PSE electric vacuum switch (the "on-off" for the PSE). The second Y-connector takes the output of the vacuum switch and shares it between the two can actuator valves.

The "extra", as advised by OE, is used to connect to an existing vacuum tap on the intake bellows .... and spilt between whatever was already using it and the PSE system. It will all make much more sense when you get into the installation .... just save these posts and read them again at that time. That's what I did ... with many such posts .... and it made my install go much calmer.

OE mentions getting the extra Y-connector from Pep Boys or the like. I had a problem doing that. The supplied connectors are female at every point. Every auto supply place I tried had a variety of vacuum connectors .... but all MALE at every point. I finally resorted to using a male Y-connector and adding extra pieces of hose on each end to convert them to female. (call me crazy, but it does not look as nice and OEM). Female is what is needed to work with the existing and PSE vacuum lines. In the end, it would have been quicker and easier to run to a dealer and get a connector identical to those in the kit .... which had a 928 part number in my case, visible on the connector itself, and in the TSB parts list.

By the way, the TSB implies the vacuum tank is optional, saying something like "if used" when referring to it. It can be difficult to get into position, so I went to RennTech and asked if other used it. When OE replied that he did, I persevered. Upon completion, I figured out that, at the least, the tank allows me to switch PSE to "quiet mode" after turning on the key, but before starting the car. (power-up default is loud mode). That is valuable to me, as I sometimes have to start up in the garage long before dawn, and I like being able to do it quietly.

Thank you OE and Kim. If you guys think of anything else that might be helpful, I know we'd all love to hear about it.
