My local Porsche dealer - Carousel in Minneapolis - has refused to install H&R struts and springs and Porsche GT3 stabilizer bars and my '99C4 and set ride height to ROW specs.
Something to do with liabiity if I run into the back of a truck and get killed because of the ride height.
Their estimate for total labor and alignment was 9.5 hrs for install and $165 for alignment to GT3 specs. But this is of course moot since they are not going to do it.
Has anyone else had a similar experience?

This could be pretty much standard for most authorised Porsche service centres world wide I think.
Indeed in Singapore, it is the exact same situation, installation of any aftermarket/non Porsche parts always need to be done by an independent specialist as the authorised service centre here in Singapore has explicit directive not to entertain such business.

My local dealer (Shelton) would not install my ROW M030 suspension kit, despite my telling them that it is a factory kit. This is the same dealer that did not even know what the kit was when I tried to order from them, also the same dealer that told me the cars are perfect the way the come from the factory, the same dealer that wanted $150 for parts that I could order from another dealer for $85.They did tell me the cost of install and align would be about $1200, I got it done at another Porsche shop for ~$750. What a crock... <img src="graemlins/cussing.gif" border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" />

Remind your dealer that the GT2 sits lower than that and the ROW ride heights have nothing to do with bumper standards... its all about warranty claims on scratched up noses. I would suggest offering to sign a waiver, but you are better off finding a dealer that is willing to coopperate. Suggest to the current dealer that thwy switch to selling Audi's or VW's since they do not seem to be interested in Porsches and what they are designed to do... go fast and have fun

They have a GT2 on their floor. I did point out that a GT2 sits lower straight from the factory.
Unfortunately they are also an Audi dealer and their Audi business is many times greater than the Porsche side.
There are plenty of independent Shops in town that can do this. I was just surprised and not a little disappointed at their attitude towards what is after all a sports car.

I can't really blame them for not wanting to install aftermarket parts, but that still doesn't make it right. Refusing to set the car to RoW standards is ridiculous, find another p-car dealer. My local dealer installed my RoW 030 suspension for $800 including alignment, no problem.

My dealer gladly installed my RoW M030 (charged me plenty too - $900 w/ alignment)

Carousel is a great dealer but probably not the place to go to have aftermarket parts installed. There are several excellent Porsche shops in MN that are more than qualified to do the installation. Among the best are AutoEdge Racing and Johnson Motorsports.
I have had H&R coilovers and adjustable swaybars for a couple of years and would be glad discuss installation with you. Send me an email.
