Stickers under the front hood or in the maintenance booklet list the options. Jeff

If the underhood sticker has '030' as one of the 3 digit codes, then it is there. If not, then no you dont.

If the above tips don't pan out and you still believe the car has M030 added look at the shocks, they should have green dots. The springs also have certain markings, check the recent Panorama article available on the PCA national website, it details everything you ever wanted to know about M-030 but were afraid to ask.

Doug - I cant thank you enough. I read the entire article with great interest and am very informed now. Now I wonder: how many 996 owners upgraded to ROW 030 and what are their experiences? I do NOT have either sport suspension and feel the car needs it as I drive a twisty canyon road 5 days per week (rough commute!)
Thank you!

Read the article too, and solves a question I had, why so many people are complaining of severe understeer from their 996.

I've had the RoW M030 on my 996 since day one (I tried the 996 standard suspension on a track once, before I bought mine, and though it was unfit for a Porsche) and while the Row M030 has an understeer tendency, its not excesive understeer, its more a neutral-understeer setup. Now I know its due to the less understeer setup of the RoW M030 only. IMHO Row M030 is an absolute must on a 996 if you use your for the pleasure of driving and not simply for transport.

Dustman, Glad I could help you out. I have ROW M030 installed on my '00 C2 and I love it, makes the car drive like a Porsche. The car is quite neutral now with minimal understeer, and throttle oversteer can be easily induced. Like I said it makes the 996 handle like a Porsche should, it's a good upgrade. Now all you need is an exhaust upgrade to make it sound like a Porsche should sound!

I just purchased the euro M030, and found it will worth the money. The handling is much flatter and supurb to the stock suspension. Spring shocks and sway bars, the only way to go. Are you joining the Saturday Malibu drive?

I based my choice of the standard suspension on my car based on the fact that it has 18" wheels (Turbo-Look I). Having been the lucky recipient of an awesome gift of the two-day Porsche Driving Experience at Road Atlanta from my wife for our 10th anniversary (!), I "copied" their configuration of 18" wheels, standard U.S. suspension, and PSM.

A lot of reading on performance driving led me to the correct belief that bigger tires with greater surface area yield superior grip (all other ). I was also told by two separate dealers (subjective opinions) that the M030 along with 18" wheels is "too hard for regular driving".

... I guess what I'm trying to say is that for a non-tracking yet fast-driving character like myself, my setup's abilities definitely exceed my current limits. If money is a consideration, I'd recommend BIG tires over suspension for road driving.

Andrew there is nothing wrong with the standard suspension (M033), but the sport suspension(M030) provides a sharper handling experience, IMO how a Porsche should drive. BTW the 996 at the PDE are equipped with sports suspensions and exhaust last I heard.

Carlos are you sure about that, I don't think M030 was part of the ME package.
