Post Cat problems

Hey all,

I don't know whether this has been covered before. So, here it goes anyway...

Having just returned from my holiday, I discovered that my 996 cab's top has been scratched somewhat by a cat. Not my cat, mind you, just some stray which decided that my car, out of the hundred or so others in the garage, made an ideal scratching post.

I must commend Porsche on their softtop, it is solid, and the cat only managed some superficial damage. However, it brings an important question to mind, how does one prevent and protect against our furry friends?

Is there any sort of pet repellant or hood protector which can be installed? I don't think the hardtop is an option, since it is rather difficult to install and remove.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

A Cat may be better then a mouse. Here's what one did to my hardtop while it was in storage.

The mouse made a nest in the upper right corner. Sound absorber removed.

only because I have an old cat who has an accident now and again.

what the cat is doing is leaving behind his scent, so that the next feline in the area knows that your 996 is his. Given the chance, he will do it again just to make sure it stays 'his'. You should feel complemented, he could have chosen some lesser set of object to 'own'.

Here's the solution:

'nature's miracle, just for cats' a non toxic, non-caustic, non-acidic. etc. mixture of enzymes to remove odors and prevent future marking, spraying. Availabe at Petco. made by pets n people inc., Redondo beach 310-540-3727

like any other chemicals, I strongly suggest trying it on an area hidden away in case it does stain.

Works on my overpriced tibetan rug without staining.......I have a sealed garage (no spiders, rats, cats, etc.)

you could always get the inflatable bubble that I've seen advertised :0)

good luck

Hi Paul
I first thought this was to do with your exhaust !!

I had a problem with a darn cat sitting on the bonnett (hood in the US), of my cars on my drive. In the winter months him would jump on top to keep warm - when you arrived home. Underneath when raining !! As it was the neighbours cat, as much as I would have liked to take it for a drive and set it free (safely). I opted for the humane route, you can purchase a " ultrasonic siren ". Details below.

This animal chaser gives 24 hour ultrasonic protection against all garden pests. The unique 3 frequencies and 3 volume control functions allow you to select against cats, dogs, foxes, rabbits, deer or rodents. Covers over 5000sq. ft. at 60ft radius, complete with 30ft extension and mains adaptor. Suitable for wall or free standing use.

5.5"H x 6"W x 7.5"D (14 x 15 x 19cm).

If you need more inform let me know, try a search on the net. If not the Uk could supply, I'm sure. Failing that a hose pipe linked to a pir system, that sprays when it detects movement - sounds more fun.

Good luck.

Nature's Miracle is what my sound absorber is soaked with in the pic above. It caused no damage to the headliner, though it failed to get rid of the mouse stench. I have had very good luck with it for my dogs (when they were pups).

Use a car cover while the 996 is in the garage. Who cares if he scratches the cover

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Unfortunately, I am stuck in a multi-storey carpark, not a personal garage, as most of you have.

This vastly limits my choices to the chemical warfare option...

Would've loved the BB gun option, but how does one stake out a public car park without looking like a psychopath?

Of course, the psychopath option would cut down on the door dings and preserve the stereo, etc.

Are you sure the scratch is from a cat? Why not your old girlfriend!
