Default Newbie Maintenance Question???

Hi, I'm looking at getting my first Porsche and still deciding on new versus used. I was wondering what kind of maintenance can I expect on a '04 996 C4S?

Thanks.

blow up your engine and pay $15K.......blow a tire and pay $350.......blow a fuse (and not knowing about it) $175 (Dell you love this answer don't you??)

If I were you I would be more worried about the money you are going to spend on mod's for your P!!

Depending on the mileage of the P...and oil change every 7500mls at $300 (approx)......about $1K every 30.000mls...

But a set of carbon fiber mirrors ($800) carbon fiber console ($1400) sport exhaust ($1000-2000) lowering of the P ($1000-4000) need I go on???

Buy the car, drive it.....enjoy it and make sure you get a extended warranty or a P warranty.

AND post images when you bought it!!!

You are looking for service inteval?

Oil change and inspection every 15k or 1 year. Plugs lasts 60k, brake fluid every 3 yrs, air filter/cabin filter every 30k.

Cost is $300-700 dep on whether it's a 15k oil change or a 30k service.

I wouldn't wait 15K for an oil change!!! The dealer advices 7500K.....eventhough the manual says 15K....for 300 bucks won't take a change!

This is a great forum. Thanks Gang, I was looking for pretty much looking for both service intervals and what are common things that would need replacing in a used 996. I think I got what I was looking for. Will post pixs once I decide which one to get.

The 996 is no different from a Toyota Corolla as far as maintenance goes. Oil and filter at 15K miles, air filter at 30K, plugs and serpentine belt at 60K.

Soft-palmed Girlie Men can expect to pay through the nose to have these things done for them. Real Men will DIY and spend under $100 for the same thing.

That is one possibility. The other is their knuckles drag on the ground when they walk. Scrapped knuckles + one continuous eyebrow = knuckle dragger!
