Cool Porsche CD Changer

Hopefully someone can help out.Just purchased a 1999 996 polar silver , aero kit, Fabspeed exhaust headers, short shifter and cold air intake. So far the finest machine i have ever owned. I want to mount it to a wall and just stare at it but thats no fun. It has a cdr-220 in dash cd radio. I want to purchase a separate porsche cd stacker and i am wondering will it adapt with the radio i have and also are the cars prewired so that installation won't be difficult.

Both Becker and Sony should work fine. Give the guys at Continental Imports a call. I got my kit from them (about $435 complete. Their kit includes the Porsche mounting bracket and various hardware for an easy installation. You can install either the 6 disk or 10 disk changer. You can get more info at Becker North America.

Install instructions are at:

These are for a Boxster but a Carrera is the same.

Congrats on the '99 Carrera!

Besides just adding the cd changer, you might want to go to a car audio place and weigh/price out your options. I recently upgraded my CR220 and CD changer to an Alpine unit with XM and an Alpine CD changer w/ MP3 for about $700 installed. The new set up blows away the original system...looks cool too, the Alpine unit is aluminum and matches my aluminum shift **** and parking brake.

Renato, what stock speakers did/do you have? Did you upgrade your speakers? How about a picture of the Alpine setup?

Hi Back-n-Black,

I still have the stock speakers...the next upgrade is for an MB Quart amp/speaker set up. I'll take a pic of the set-up...and try to post, if I can't I'll send you the pics via e-mail.

another piece of advice, install Dynamat in the doors when replacing the speakers. Don't forget to add a subwoofer too...
