'04 996 Anniv. Ed. #1271
Recently came across this '04 Anv. Ed. 996 C2. Very tempted to purchase but
concerned about the price and the effect on the market of the recent Porsche '06's'07's (i.e Cayman, 997 and 997TT).
Beautiful car with $94K sticker. 9K miles, PSM, Nav., heated seats, X50 engine package (345hp), Partial Factory Aero, GT3 Silver Met. paint, Blk leather interior, #1271 of the limited edition. Porsche Certified. 50% tire wear.
Thoughts on asking price of $70K?????
Thanks

These cars were selling for low 70s BRAND NEW when they were just sitting on lots across the country. Apparently they didn't sell to well (overproduced for a "anniversary" model). Personally, I would be somewhere in the low to mid 60s as my limit knowing that info.

I got mine for 73K and sold it back to the dealership for 68K, I would suggest checking galves for a value...

Bottom dollar is now $65K. For that kind of money and '01 or '02 TT might be a possibility. This car has been on the lot for over 3 mths. IMHO resale would be a real challange. Thanks for the input on Galves.

For 65 I would consider a TT for a few $$$ more. For 60K I could probably be convinced to buy the 911 Anniversary car. Does it still have the luggage, and all the goodies, etc, that came with that special ed?

No goodies. Luggage is gone, special key, etc are also MIA. 1 owner car with all books and
records. The more I review the pics and research the car 60K seems to be top dollar. $65-70K puts
me in the range of a decent TT, Cayman or even a base 997. The X50 is the only real feature that
grabs my attention. Great low end torque and pull all the way through the gears and power band.
I shall continue my search.....

with only 9K miles and CPO'd, up to $65K is fair. A 997S with only 10 more HP will be $20K more...and the 40th has full leather, limited slip, sport suspension, painted console, turbo bumper and GT3 sills to boot. I don't understand the Cayman comparison, either...not remotely in the same league, unless you plan to use it for autocross. Of course, I'm biased.

I agree with Triode's and Chris' input. The 40th is quite the package. And at $65K it is certainly a fair price. I've put 10K miles on mine which I bought new and paid just slightly north of the mid-70K's at the end of '04. The X50 package and the limited slip differential make the driving experience very rewarding, and much different than a base 996 or 997, and not much different than a 997S. Now a Turbo on the other hand is on a different league. So drive all your choices and decide for the one that meets your desires.

Sticker indicates as standard features for the Anniv. Edition. A 2 piece luggage set and a enameled Porsche logo on the key with special Porsche key fob.......... Doesn't sound that special to me but
it is listed on this car's original window sticker.

Check for comparison. Less miles, less tire wear

I've checked Galves, Manheim etc for pricing at the wholesale and retail levels. Seems that it is a difficult car to price given it's relative rarity and options. I'm still tempted and believe that at between $60-63K it might be a good purchase.
I've referenced the Cayman and 997 as subjects to consider as to their impact on the 996 market values. With new P-car options falling in and around the $60-80K range what will that do to the 996C2 or C4 and how will the new 997TT or Club Sport effect the 996TT market? I'm not one to pinch pennies when it comes to my P-Cars (added over $7K to my 993 before I let it go) but at the same time I certianly don't want to encur a 10-20% depreciation as soon as the car leaves the lot only to save such money by waiting another 3-4mths (patience grasshopper) if the market does
change. I'm sure this car will be sold by then......... So, roll the them ole laughing bones or step up to the plate and gitter done????

A friend of mine on the east coast is kicking around the idea of selling his. I think it has maybe 15K miles. I think he is trying to get around 65K for it. If you are serious, let me know and I'll try to arrange for you guys to connect.
