Post RADAR CHOICE

May have been discussed, would like to know what everyone is using and how strong they feel about their unit. Thinking of Passport versus V1.

You can't go wrong with either. It's Pepsi vs Coke kind of thing. I got the Passport since I happen to think it's better (Less filling!!! Ooops, that's a beer commercial)

I've got the passport. Either is good as long as you keep in mind that neither is foolproof (far from it).

I got a Passport SRX.
Pricey, but very effective, invisible, and offers laser jammimg as a bonus.

I wasn't aware they were offering laser jamming.

Any opinion on how it works? That is if you CAN have an opinion about jamming... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

They actually call it "Shifting".
You would have 2 laser transmitters aimed at the pavement. When the beam from the cop hits your car, it merges with the one you are emitting and gets directed at the pavement. The Lidar unit will not show any speed until you pass it (no protection from behind). In a test (I think it was Car and driver) the SRX blocked over 90% of the Lidar beams aimed at it.

I've got a V1 now but was thinking about adding a jammer but not convinced of their usefullness yet.

Having it all built into one would be nice although IMHO the V1 is the better detector jamming aside.

Only advantage of the V1 over the SRX is that the V1 is mounted high and the SRX low (in the grille). But sensitivity wise I beleive they are equal.

Valentine One is the way to go. Or you can buy both, see which has better range, and return the other!

well i have a V1 ver1.8 as well as the passport 8500, and side by side the passport wins in every category expecially false alarms, and as far as the srx is concerned i know that its laser shifting has been tested many times by many companys and they have found it to be 99.9 to 100 percent effective on all lasers

I have the Passport, and love it. As a plus, it too has a bogey counter as well as a voltage meter, which is always running when the detector is not in alarm mode. It's a great plus.

regards,

The Valentine gets more falses but the front/rear arrow is very useful. The valentine has better overall quality of construction.

c4cleon and others,

does the SRX laser jammer have to be mounted in the grill permanently and aligned to jam laser? how long is install and what skill?

i switch cars every few months so installations dont make sense -- i just sold my lidatek jammer for this reason.

i need an effective laser jammer that is quick to install and change cars, ideally, just like moving a Valentine to a new car. does SRX meet this need? Thanks.
