Me again-is speed yellow "too much" or just right?
Ok, I'm a 41 year old guy, looking to buy a 2000 C2 with 31k mi for about $49k. I found a speed yellow, with yellow stitching on the black sport seats, yellow seat backs on those seats, white gauges, upgrade sport wheels... this is the first 996 that has captured my real interest due to the exotic, non-bland exterior in a price I can sort of afford, at least in the pics I've seen of it. It's being sold by a Lexus dealer (ughh)in Texas (I think), very far from my home in Maryland.
I excitedly showed my wife the pics, and she said, "yellow? are you sure? how could you ever resell it? wouldn't 95% of people NOT want yellow? what if you get sick of the color?"
Any thoughts on this color? It calls to me, but I might just be acting like a 5 year old today. My 993 triple black cab owning friend who is getting a 996 99-2000 triple blk cab thinks yellow is "cartoonish" and that it's better to go with silver or black on that car. I find silver a bit bland on the 2000 996 vs silver on a 97 C4S - which is HOT! Thoughts?

PS- Have a Merry Christmas, for all of you that celebrate and thanks to you all for ALL your help. You may have helped me to avoid buying a 993 which wouldn't have been as fast, comfortable, updated, cool in the summer, warm in the winter, etc!

Steve,
My friend has a 360 Modena in yellow and I think even that car is a bit much. However, it is a matter of taste. I would listen to your wife. Also the price seems a little high for a C2 with 31K. I have seen cars with much less miles for lower prices. I was able to get a 99C4 with 18K in september for 52k off a Buick dealer. Prices are falling.

I'm semi-computer illiterate! Let me know if this works. For some reason I can't get the pics of my 88 off one of the links, and the other link doesn't work. The car is in Clear Lake, Tx. Is that near you at all? I sure wish someone could look at it for me.
Peace to all, and to all a good night.

Porscheless at the moment.

Wow that looks awesome!!! I wish I could trade for mine Clear lake is about a 3.5hr drive from Austin where I live. My wife's parents actually live there. Too bad it wasn't during Thanksgiving as I was down there. I doubt we will go down over the holiday break so I won't be able to go check it out. Good luck, it looks like a good car but without actually seeing it and driving it you never know.

Stever, i faced exactly the same problem when ordering my new C4cab.My wife thought the colour was not something that suited my age( i am 43), and everybody advised against yellow for being difficult to sell.I allready have difficulties selling a car since i can buy them tax free, but need to sell them either outside this country, or to a foreigner living here in Turkey. You can imagine that it causes more difficulties.I ended up buying on the safe side and choosing black metallic, but i regret that decission regularly. <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" />
Go for what you really like!!!!!!!
Best of luck

First of all Stever, you are a 41 year young guy.
I cannot comment on the price, the condition of the Pcar, and the resell value, but I would like to comment on the color.
I like the car alot in the pictures, its really cool. Just imagine there is another (any color) 996 next to it. Which will attracts you more, No doubt the yellow one. If you have a favorite color, that's another case but if you like the yellow and you like attracting ppl. then go for the yellow. It's the color of the sun.

It's over. The wife has vetoed the yellow 996 big time. She thought about it last night, the pics floating in around that sensible, beautiful head of hers, and can not deal with me having that car! She said "it's too flashy, Steve. Your friends will all say, there goes Steve in his yellow Porsche". Yeeesh.
I say to that, so what? But we fought about it more than I wanted to, and I lost. I don't want to **** her off anymore than I have.
Now I'm back to really swaying more towards a 2000 C4 than the 97 C4S anyway, thanks to the great help I've gotten on this board and from your emails. What an awesome community. It's been suggested, stay with silver, blue or black, and to think of the next guy buying it from me one day when I buy it!
Now there's the lease or buy question. If I leased, I could get out of it in a couple of years to get a 996 C4S used. Hmmmmmm - now my gears are REALLY spinning. What the heck to do.
