Before you ask, the application is:
Agressive Street Driving, some track time (advanced driving level), but only occasional (3-4 times a year)
Anyone driven both setups? Impressions?
Appreciate any input

PSS9's over the H&Rs anyday. I hate that silly "large" diameter spring in the front on the H&Rs but more so you're "stuck" with whatever dampening you get on the H&Rs. With the PSS9s you can adjust the dampening rate soft/harsh back and forth and customize it more to your own needs

X74 is for the Narrow Body (C2/C4)
X73 is for the widebody (C4S/TT)
Since you said you wanted a more agressive suspension yet were not going to track more than 304 times yet want an agressive street setup, then the X73/74 is IMHO the way to go. Why? First of all, it is a factory part and I trust that the engineers know MORE about your car than does Bilstein or H&R.
There are many guys on the board that have done the X73/74 setup. Talk to (C4S Surgeon) and you will find out that it is worth every penny and then some.

PSS9....It actually can be setup for a SMOOTHER ride than stock, all at a lower ride height. The X73/X74 is not at all adjustable. The PSS9 is height adjustable as well as the shock dampening. So you can dial your car in to the way YOU like it. If the X73/4 isnt low enough or too low, tough. If the shocks are not stiff enough or too stiff, tough, thats it. And I dont think I have seen 1 negative PSS9 comment on any board, and everyone i know who has done it, loves it. Including me.

Bilstein has been making shocks for Porsches for quite a long time so I trust their that they are experts in this arena. The X73 and X74 are nice, but I wanted some adjustability so I went with the PSS9's. Even at a lower ride height, they ride better than the M030 suspension that came with my 40th. I've had no problems and use my car primarily on the street although it has been driven on the race track and autocross quite a few times for exercise.

X73/X74 is the Porsche competition suspension, the ultimate, unless you go motons. Pss9's are a 'street' oriented, one size fits all suspension, all bling imo. Mine measures 25.25, that's low enough for me, and the Porsche engineers. Too much adjustability isn't always a good thing at the track, esp in the hands of a neophyte to racing. Nice to be dialed in out of the box, personally, I hate adjusting things at the track, outside of tire pressure. Flame away...........................

I did extensive research when I had my 996 and was ordering X74, but it was out of stock, and I ended up trading for a 997S before I installed it. I spent a good half hour on the phone with Gert at Carnewal. Take a look at his website, where there is a link to some testimonials. Not adjustable, but then one of Gert's points was that most people are going to set PSS9 once and likely won't readjust it (and I think you have to re-balance the car everytime you change the settings).
