Anyway i have two questions.

1. Anyone have any pics/details of a Palm Treo 650/700 installed in their 996? Seidio makes a GPS car mount that I was thinking of buying, anyone using this?

2. Anyone try that "key conversion" that changes the shell of the key to a Carrera GT type key fob? I have the one button key (MY 1999) and was wondering if anyone has successfully upgraded that, despite the conversion key having two buttons?

1. What type of mount do you need? Purpose? I just put mine in the cubby under the stereo.

2. Do a search. There was a group buy some time ago and then people reporting on the success/failures of the mod.

I have removed my center console and replaced with GT3 Center console delete. No more storage cubbies................................................................. .......hahahahahahahahhahahahaha!

I didn't see that one coming. How about one of the suction cup mount. I have a RAM mount that is used for Rally Racing and has a rating of 50 lbs.

Damn! Since I'm not cool, I can't participate! First it's 5 or 6 Group Buys I can't participate in, and now THIS! I'm starting to take this personally! Guess I'm just have to sell my P-car and be done with it!

I don't know if the inside of my pocket has enough cool inhabitants who will see the keycover difference and since I am married (which is not cool at all!!) I don't go to bars where I can throw the key(s) with Porsche logo on the bar, next to my milk and look cool...but forgot to take my helmet off! (Vespa was sitting outside).

I use a ProClip mounting unit for my iPod and it works great. The unit for the 996 mounts low, and in a great location, near the heated seats buttons - it is not hanging high off the dash near the AC vents.

I don't do the "keys on the bar" trick, my buddy does all the time and I laugh my *** of. Though I have been known to hide his keys occassionally (he has an MB CLK420......ooooooooh).

My key fob is just beat to hell and i wanted to replace it so I will be cool in my own mind.

Those suction mounts will probably be my only alternative (they come with the GPS base i was thinking of buying) but was hoping there was some other alternative (beside air vent clips)

Any key conversion success stories though??
