Default My latest mod! Steering Wheel controls. Whadayathink.

Hey Gang,
After some parts gathering and modifications, I finally installed my new three spoke wheel. I modified the Tiptronic buttons to control my Ipod on the left and my Bluetooth hands free on the right. Now I don't have to take my eyes off the road to play/pause/forward & reverse tracks and answer/hang up the phone. IT ACTUALLY WORKS!!!

Expect a write up in the future.

Tom

We do something like this for the OBC retrofit.

But you need to have a non-tip car and put in the tip unit.

Tom, great mods. Congrats on the steering wheel install.
I'm relatively new to the board, just curious about your alum. guage rings. I know there are other strings on this topic, but just wondering if you are happy with that mod. I'm thinking of adding these once I take my car out from winter hibernation. Do they match the other alum. trim pieces and look substantial enough or ....
Looks like you can get these at Performance Products and Pelican. Any other sources to check?
Would sure appreciate your thoughts and anyone else on these guage rings.
Cheers

OK, we can now expect the price / demand for 3 spoke tip steering wheels to go up on ebay......

Great out of the box thinking!!

Tom,

Great job, I really like it! I do have a couple of questions I'd appreciate if you could answer. I'm looking to use all 4 switches for the phone remote with a motorola IHF1000 bluetooth car kit, no IPOD.

Can this approach completely elliminate the need for the Silver bluetooth controller? Two switches could be used for answer and hang-up the other two could be ganged for initiate. The only ones left would be the volume, but since I'm going to use the radio, does the radio volume control cover that? I'm not sure that I need the bright blue light indicating it's on.

What is the tiptronic ring piece called, my guess is that is a must have to connect the switches.

A bunch of people on the forum locate the mic on the on the window pillar and that looks good but I was wondering if you had any thoughts on locating in the overhead console near the sunroof controls.

I love that mod, it makes doing the bluetooth install factory like clean enough to do.

Thanks,
Bruce

If you honk the horn, does the car fire rockets at idiot drivers?

That would be a mod that I want.
