Thanks for posting the pictures. I am amazed how you guys can drive Porsches in Manila -- you guys are warriors! I was in Manila for three weeks back in December and found driving there to be a nightmare! On my first night in Manila I decided I didn't need a driver to drive from Makati to Quezon City -- 8-10 miles tops, how bad can it be? An hour and 45 minutes later I finally arrived late for dinner, totally cursing up a storm! I asked for a driver the next day and kept him for the rest of my stay (I only drove 3 other times on Saturday and Sunday mornings).

I did see a lot of impressive cars over there. I stayed at the Rockwell Condos and the parking garage was full of new Mercs, BMWs, Porsches, Maseratis and a Ferrari Modena. There were also Range Rovers and Hummer H2s. What I find really amazing is the fact that I saw a base Cayenne (V6 version) on display at the Powerplant Mall for US$180,000!!! We have it good over here in the States -- the car tax in the Philippines is ridiculous!

programmatore, that is so true. Rediculous to drive porsches here so we usually drive out sunday morning at 5:30am at the south super highway. Funny it's called "super highway", it's got only two lanes and potholes every meter. The goodside....we can max out and really have fun with our pcars. The highway patrol just stares in amazement and grinns as we blast by him at 315kmh. And yes, taxes here for luxury vehicles are terrible, but the irony of seeing high end/rare cars are becoming rampant...in a third world country, as others say. The first CGT here priced at 38M or nearly $700th. Enjoy more pics. Been lurking a while, thought you guys would appreciate the pics.

Cheers!

Thanks for sharing the pics.

I heard the Philippines was going to build a road racetrack to rival the F1 track of Malaysia. Is that true?

Thanks for sharing!
Where are the female passengers pictures?

When I was there growing up, the hot p car was the 930. There were just a couple back then. Basing on your pictures it surely has change. That is a lot of high end fast cars!!

Jose,

Yes I am. Are you there in Phils? Where were the pix above taken at? Looks like U.P. in Diliman parking lot looking at the row of trees.

I left in 86. Last time I was there for a visit was in 2000. Too bad it was just for 12 days. It's sooo much fun there, specialy the car scenes every saturday nights. It was at Greenhills waaaay back when... of course night life was the best!!!

Small world. Diliman brings back memories. I used to drive from UP Diliman to Ilocos twice a year for Christmas and summer break in a '67 Mustang. Normally a 12 hour drive, I'd make it in 7 . Wonder how long it would have taken if I could have afforded a Porsche back then?

Palting,
That must have been a nice drive back then. Specially when you cut those times to half What year was that when you did those drive?
Did you go to college at University of the Philippines(U.P.)? My wife did her B.S. Statistics and Actuarial Arts there. Batch 85.

Jose,
Are you there in Phils? Do you have a local website for your group with pictures? I would love to see more. I posted some pix for a friend there who own a very nice sample of a 993 GT2.
