Post New PSE, initial impressions....

Picked up my '00 996 with new PSE (3.4L/early version) installed by the dealer on Monday. I know I could have done it myself (I've done it so many times I can do it in my sleep ), but just didn't have time, besides the dealer made me a good deal on the install.
Anyway, I am quite pleased with the PSE it has a nice raspy sound that is not too loud, in fact not quite as loud as my old Ruf at full throttle and significantly less cabin noise IMHO . It sounds great going through the gears and really screams above 5k, a wonderful raspy tone like a Porsche should . Can't wait to get it on the track.
I'm very pleased, it had big shoes to fill and does the job! <img border="0" alt="[cherrsagai]" title="" src="graemlins/drink.gif" />

Doug I'm installing mine myself next week (3.4L/early version). Any tips on installation? What torque do you turn the bolts to?

Was your old Ruf the quiet version?

Technically there are torque settings but, I have never worried about it.

3 bolts for muffler: 17 ft-lb.
2 cat clamp bolts: 34 ft-lb.
1 exhaust tip bolt: 22 ft-lb.

Rob, I didn't do the install on the PSE, but I'm sure it's the same as an aftermarket install, I have plenty of experience. I typically use a jack stand and floor jack, do one side at a time, this should give plenty of clearance. No need to remove bumper or wheels IMO. Should take a couple of hours if you haven't done it before. The hardest part is alignment of the tips, I suggest you only snug the tips on the mufflers so they can be adjusted at the end. Enjoy!
BTW I had the normal RUF exhaust for a 996, I'm not sure there is a quiet version for the N/A cars.
