Wink The somewhat long and somewhat strange trip...

Just finished a trip in my new car ('02 996 C2).

Took it home to Idaho for registration, by way of Monterey, CA.

This car is simply amazing. Averaged about 75Mph (with occational bursts to 100+, for passing purposes ) and got 28 MPG.

(The car came from PNA broken-in already)

Unbelevable.

However, a couple of unfortunate things happened, both in a parking garage in Monterey.

The Car recieved it's first "ding". Stupid SUV rear door (I think, they were gone when I got back to the car) to the rear fender.

How do I fix this ? It's small, but anoying, being visible in the drivers mirror.

Also, somebody stole the rear license plate frame. Strange...

But, a good trip none the less...

Roger

Hi Roger,

Congratulations for your new car! If it is your first porsche it will take you some time to really understand the car due to rear engine. A rear engine gives an entirely different feel to the car.

As for the minor mishaps of the very first days: It seems they are almost inevitable with a new car - as if they happen to reduce the sheer pleasure of a new toy. Probably this is part of the brake-in process.

Have fun!!! <img src="graemlins/drink.gif" border="0" alt="[cherrsagai]" />

Roger, congrats on the new car. Regarding the door ding, find a good paintless dent removal company. They do fantastic work. Had a similar incident in a parking garage at work from a blue pickup truck. 45 minutes and $60 bucks later and I couldn't tell where the ding was and I knew where to look! Get some recommendations in your local area and best of luck.

I second Brent. My '02 cab was hit by a deer in Dec. that left two dents on the front fender and passenger door. My local paintless dent remover guy (The Dent Wizard) removed them in 2 hrs. for $400.
