Default New Radar Detector Setup

I got tired of having the cord for my Passport hanging across the dash. One afternoon and some $ later... I think it looks pretty good. The installer fabricated a new panel and covered it in vinyl, so I can go back to stock if I ever want to. The detector is on the driver's side of the rear view mirror.

Definitely better. I had the same conclusion when I had that radar detector.

On my 2001 I removed the center portion where the window switches and ash tray are located and hard wired the radar power to the switch, I then took apart the mute button and drilled out one of the dummy switches in the back and put the mute button through it.

That sounds like a pretty slick setup. Do you have any pictures?

I hardwired my passport in my SUV pretty much the same way.
