Post RECALL 2002 C4S

Just got a call from my dealer...(Great Service) to schedule an appointment to replace my transmission in my 02 C4S. Apparently there is a recall out there or coming out. They have 40 to do, so they are scheduling them.

I scheduled an appointment from a transmission replacement. I wonder if anyone else has heard of this?

Just called my dealer. No transmission recalls on the C4S that they are aware of. It must be a target specific recall. What kind/build date/delivery date of C4S do you have FT? Although it would be nice to have a new transmission just because it's new, mine's been bulletproof at 8,500 miles. <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

Yeah, PCNA's letter to me hinted they may have a C4S tranny recall. And I responded how silly it is to make it a widespread recall....
PAG surely knows exactly what trannies had the bad 1 and 2nd gears installed, and needs only recall them. Not panic everyone.

Best part is they said they may ask me to take mine in for inspection

Guys, does the recall effect other 996's or is it just on C4s' built after the month of May ?

Hi FT, don't know if you where monitoring this site back in early July, but myself and I think urbanski had just taken delivery of our 02 c4s's and at that time both had the tranny problem. I think we had the first June builds delivered in July. My understanding from PGA at the time was that there was a two week period in during June that the Trannies where a problem. I thought they had sorted this issue out and where able to identify all bad trannies. I was just curious as to when your car was built and delivered? How many miles you have on it and that sort of stuff. Because, if it's a later buillt car like in August then I wonder if the replacement trannies are bad as well. And those of us who thought we doged the bullet are actually just on borrowed time.

Good point Lucas.
Are we all in hot water here?
Gonna be interesting to see what PAG/PCNA does.
I replied to their recall plan with a pretty scathing rant about incompetence.

But honestly....no way in hell is Palting running all around the track on unforged first and second gears....unforged gears that splintered in mine after 20 miles of gentle highway driving...

Lucas, mine was an April build. I believe there was a strike at the Porsche factory in March. I took June delivery. I must admit for a car in this price range, it is embarassing to tell someone there is a recall. I only have 3500 Km on the car.
I had read on this post earlier this year about tranny problems in England, but never did I think they would recall mine. In fact the dealer told me he is scheduling 40 cars. Bizarre.
