Default Ipod ?

Anyone know the best tools/stuff to get in order to use the ipod in the car? I currently just have an adapter that plugs into the lighter. I am looking for something a bit more stable. Anyone have good results, suggestions, etc?

The becker cable will only work with pre-MOST systems. There are a lot of aftermarket ways to power your system without having to hog the cigarette lighter, but you are going to have to use an FM modulator is your care doesn't use the CDR-220 or earlier radio.

From previous post:

I'm sure this has been posted before, but this is the BEST way to do it. I tried all the FM modulators, they all suck. Call Becker USA 201-327-3434 get the AUX wiring kit ( BNA 1319.116, $16.40) and a RCA y adaptor cable from Radio Shack ($7). Total install time, about 10 minutes. Just remember to depress the blue tabs to get the removal keys out. Very simple and very slick install, I just had to share. I love it when a plan comes together!
BTW my car is a 2000 so it doesn't have the MOST interface.

They made the ipod interface that goes into the cd changer. Denison makes one but I have heard that it is NOT LINE LEVEL which means distrortion. There is another one that is line level and does the same thing do a search I posted a link for it previously.

MOST is a fiber optic bus which communicates between components. Started in 2003. It makes upgrading, or integrating an iPod, nearly impossible without ripping out the entire system and starting over. I don't think there is an iPod solution other than a FM transmitter for MOST systems. If you find one, please let me know.

I've done a variation of OE's write up. I used the Belkin unit but did not take it apart nor did I run it through the ashtray. I also purchased a RadioShack AC port and wired into the unused power for the phone in my car. I have it all hiden away in the center stack with just the Belkin cord that attaches the dock port on the iPod coming out the stack so that I can pick up the iPod and utilize the controls without looking down. This set up charges the iPod and bypasses the iPod amp. Volume is controlled by the head unit. For 2002+ cars this set up does not work.

I have the Dension.
Works perfect. All kinds of options : whether you want it to charge or not, use the Becker display or not,...
Overall very satisfied with this product.
Also a 10 minute install.
Can post some pictures tonight.

That's the best way to go.
