Default North Texas Folks - Where do you drive?

So, I've had the car for several months and have made a couple of trips to San Antonio/Hill Country, Houston etc. I've spent most of my time on Interstates.

Where do Y'all drive when you just want to hit the road for a couple of hours?

I haven't found many great "twisties" yet. Any suggestions?

Also, any PCA Maverick Region members on Rennlist?

Last good drive I went on is River Road in New Braunfels, TX. After having fun with that road, get to 281N. Take 281N to Enchanted Rock. Great hiking and the twisties are nice in that area. Plus there's a nice park to stop and fish in along the way. Would be a suggested weekend romp p-car style. At least, that's the way we do it.

I was a member of the Mav Region until I moved to LA last summer. They're a great group and put on some excellent DE's at Motorsport Ranch!!!

there are some nice roads north and west of denton, towards Krum. Get a copy of the texas motorcycle day-trip booklet, it has plenty of day trips (maybe the H/D off 183 in Euless). I have a copy of the roads for the above if you want it. it's about 3-4 hours. It takes about 25 minutes to get to the starting point just north of denton/I35

Also, Palo pinto county Rt.4 has lots of curves and elevation; goes down towards glen rose, great drive too. Takes a bit to get there (about 1 hour) but loads of fun for us on this side of town
Maverick has 1 day and 2-3 day tours starting in the spring. Usually towards east tx with 15-30 cars; definitely a good time. I'm usually there. Check out Mav's tour page...

Thanks Guys

We did a little bit of hill country last fall. Toured from San Antonio through Bandera and over to Lost Maples State Park. Some good roads and scenery. I prefer to take 281 from Dallas to S/A to get off the interstate, but I find that the pavement is very coarse and it creates a lot of noise in the cabin.

We do plan to do some driving events with PCA this year.

Bob: Haven't seen your car around the neighborhood yet? How often do you get it out on the street? I will get the motorcylce daytrip book as well.

Thanks again.

the 911 is pretty much a garage queen/weekend car. If ya see a black 996 on southlake blvd, it's a good bet it's mine. see lots of others, but not much black.
we're also in a midnight blue boxster as a daily driver.

if you can't find the m/c trip booklet, i can make copies of what i have for you.

Scenery!!!

I'm afraid to ask what you're looking at over there!

I guess traveling at 3MPH in a P car is better than any speed in any other car.

We have a few roads near the Houston area with good twisties such as FM149 through the National Forrest & 3090 to name a couple. They are the favorites of the Sportbiker riders which is why I know them well, unfortunately I decided to give up bike riding.

Fortunately, that is why I now have my 996 (as a replacement for my sportbikes).....
