Damn 993RS- Ok guys if you had a choice Carrera GT or (2) 360 modenas(have to go by price on this one) LOL !!!! There was a silver/black GT2 at a dealer lot(Sonnen) asking $185K-very slick and very low to the ground. I flipped when the dealer said if the front lower lip breaks that's $400 just to replace. Didn't test drive it because wan't going to buy it that day : ) but Danies(my dealer-great guy) started up the engine-what an intoxicating sound. I'm certainly hooked. Regards. Mike

I have only one consideration when choosing a car: which takes me from A to B faster?... I´ll take a GT2 please, hold the cupholder (I´m still drooling over the black GT2 I saw yesterday at the dealer)
Though I bet most of us would actually be faster on a regular 996TT than on a GT2 , so I´d rather have a 996TT with ceramics, powerkit and a sportier suspension setup.

Well Palting- I don't think I could ever give up my 996- it's gone thru quite a few battles on the track and it's been rewarding everytime. I look at my car(I'm getting psychotic here) as a living thing and I nurtured it like my own. My car gets moody when it's stuck in the garage-won't start up and if it does, it sputters because it's pissed off at me for not driving everyday. I love it for what it does for me. If I can get a GT2- I still keep my baby-it's that great of a car to me. Regards. Back to the loony bin now. Mike

Here are the comments from someone who owns both:
"I really love both Porsche and Ferrari, and I've previously owned a 993 C4S and a GT3 before the GT2, so I should be pretty unbiased in my assessments. Let me shock you right away: between the GT2 and Modena it is the Modena which feels racebred.
It is probably down to a mix of a more racy engine sound, more sharp steering and most of all a quickness of the front end to follow instructions and dive for the apex. The 360 feels more agile where the GT2 feels more grippy and planted, even though when the GT2 slides it does so with great controllability and composure for the rwd almost 500hp beast."
He goes on to say the GT2 is much quicker but the 360 is very quick because taking the engine to 9000rpms makes up for some tenths it might loose in outright acceleration.

I truly love my 996TT but I would still take a 360 Modena over it or the GT2. It has a certain excitement and rawness that I love when driving it. That being said, all things considered the 996TT is a much more reliable, easily maintained daily driver and that is why I have it.

Ignacio,
Why do you say a 996TT is a better car than a 996GT2 or Modena? I think that statement is a personal preference of the all wheel drive. For the street only, the TT is far superior. I love all three. I would rather a C2, hence my favoring the GT2. My opinion, which is what we are all adding, is the GT2 is the perfect track car. I think the 360 is the perfect garage car.
Street: 996TT
Track: 996GT2
Garage: 360 Modena

Well, unfortunately none of these cars is the perfect track car, seeing as they all exceed 3,000 lbs (and the TT is over 3,500 lbs is ridiculous for the track).
Wish the new GT3 would get a good diet as it looks to weigh over 3k lbs too...

I'd take 360 Modena over GT2. Although if you compare Carrera GT vs. Modena then I'd take Carrera GT. Heck, if you can afford 360 Modena, why not get a GT2 as well or vice-versa. You gotta fill up the garage somehow. <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />
