I couldn't stand the fact that Porsche made so much money on me. I'd feel like I took a sucker punch from the marketing department.

whaddya think Ferrari Makes on a car?

I dunno how much Ferrari makes on a car. But I do know from the Feb.4, 2002, Forbes Magazine article "Porsche Goes Soccer Mom", that Porsche AG makes an average 45% profit margin on a standard Turbo. This was the highest margin in the Porsche line and perhaps the highest per unit margin in the industry. I feel the GT2 with it's simplification has got to cost less to produce than a standard Turbo so the profit must be even more, maybe 100%.

I think a company should make what it can, I'm just dissappointed the performance customer must step up to the plate and pay what I consider usury to own a GT2 and personally would not buy one for that reason alone. <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" />

We buy Porsche for a multitude of reasons. Certainly, the marque and all that it means is one of them. We therefore have to pay for that as well. Call it snob appeal if you will, but that is one of the things that distinguishes Porsche fom other cars. Much the same as what distinguishes Ferrari, Mecedes, BMW.

If we would base the cost of purchasing the car on the cost of production, we would be buying cars like the Nissan 350Z. A great car, BTW.

At the present moment, I am happy.
But I would consider a GT2 in the future.

I'd definitely go with a GT2. It's quicker and more tunable. Plus the Modena is too flashy for me - not that I wouldn't want one.

355 is better looking than a 360, GT2 still beats them all. The only Ferarri I would but for track purposes is an F40 and the street car would be a 550 Maranello or Testarossa. GT2 still beats them all. Of course, just my opinion.

Interesting, all the opinions regarding these two cars, since both are quite rare, most of the people who order and sometimes wait years for them to come in have never even driven the car till they leave the dealership in theirs.

I own a very modified 996tt (mid 500 horsepower), and have about a year and a half to go before my black 360 spider will show. I have driven both a 360 spider and a coupe, and have had the chance to also drive the GT2. I consider myself very lucky to had had the chance to drive those cars and I wonder how many of those making comments here have. I love Porsches, the two I own now are the 28th and 29th I have owned, but I have to say I have never felt anything like the way a 360 handles and feeds back the driver, and strange as it way be, check every major car publication, they seem to agree. Just my two cents

I simply love the fact the GT2 is a track made car and that's my criteria in my choosing over the 360. I do quite a few DE's and just love the fact GT2 is the ultimate well at least from what magazines do say. Have you driven the GT2 on the track to make a better assessment or just on the streets and all? The dealership had a silver/black one but yellow/black is my flavor for the GT2(would have been difficult not to sign the dotted line for a yellow one . Regards. Mike
