Question Sell or Keep C2 '98 ??

38,000miles. New clutch at 32,000. New discs and pads all round.Black with grey interior . OEM sports exhaust and clear lights upgraded. Regulary Zymoled.(wheels unmarked etc etc) Loved and looked after. But I cant help thinking the mileage is a growing ?
Also I have found that I appear to of developed a noise on take up of the drive in first gear. It sounds like a linkage of some sort moving as it takes up the drive. The noise is from under/towards the rear of the car. Has anyone got any ideas & advice ? What is likely to need replacing as the mileage grows ? (I intend to use a lot more this year so another 15K miles will not be far off. Thanks guys.By the way I am in the UK and follow this board every week. Promise not to ask about tyre pressures, sports exhausts or air filters

Is it normal to have to change the clutch at the mileage you stated? Unless you drag race a lot or do driver's ed all the time, I would expect a longer lasting clutch.

The 98 993 is a wonderful car. The 996 already had 2 fairly major changes since 99 and I understand the 997 will come out in 04...so you have a lot of choices if you should decide to sell. 996 series is certainly different than 993, but more expensive. Here in US pre-2002 996's have appeared to go down in value becauseof changes made in 02. I had a 98 993CS and currently have a 2002 C4 Cab and I enjoy the 996 much more.

Arthur the clutch was not slipping but the pressure plate had gone so the car was difficult to drive with an ever changing bite point. This may or may not of been covered by warranty and Porsche recommend if fitting new plate to replace all the clutch at this kind of mileage. At least I know I have at least another 32K without worry. I do go to driver ed here in the UK but I am definatley not a 1st gear guy. I like high speed cruising 2nd to 3rd and so on. The way I look at it is like tyres, something has to disperse all that BHP to movement !!BUT am I likely to regret keeping or should I change for a newer model ? (BTW its a 996)
