I've asked a local dealer to look into it. But it doesn't sound hopeful.

The radio buttons on my '99 996 peeled also. Dealer replaced the radio under warranty.

mine area as well. I was thinking about trimming them with a very sharp razor blade, but I would like a dealer to replace it even more.

This happened on my 1999 996 coupe. The reason they are pealing is that humans have a form of acid on their finger tips. This acid actually desolves the paint on the NAV. My NAV on my 1999 996 went faulty and after I got it replaced, the buttons never pealed again. I don't know why, but I suppose the paint constituancy was different and possible resistant to peeling.

Mine have pealed as well. I think there is actually some kind of decal on the buttons that peals off. will prbably give me excuse to upgrade sound system.
