You should be afraid! The answer is to do it in Nevada somewhere in the desert.

I disagree. It's way harder to speed in Canada, ESPECIALLY Toronto. Plus, radar detectors are illegal too. But, it IS easier to work the court system to get tickets handled cleverly...

Bright sunny skies, about 15 degrees, its like a 4 lane highway, no traffic except for the occasional car every 2kms which can hear our convoy comming from miles away (huzzah for bypass pipes) and pull out of the fast lane well ahead of time and shift over to the far right lanes.

I'd say that that is reasonably safe since there is plenty of "oh ****" space between you and any innocent motorist trudging along.

Believe me tho, if i lived next to mosport, or had a nurburgring only 3 hrs away..i would be saving it for the track

hey guys this is really interesting, I'm Canadian-born and a dream of mine has been to drive across the prairies in a hot car. Say Tronno to Vancouver.

I just have these visions of the beautiful Canadian praries whizzing by, twisties through the rockies and cap it off with a weekend in Vancouver.

Given the right fuzzbuster setup, you think it would be a sweet ride? 140+ mph?

A close friend of mine in organizing a 5000km cross canada gumball-esque race either this summer or next. Supposidly he's planned the route so that the egress and ingress routes are completly differenct and only 500km is the same course. It should be easier on the wallet than a gumball and quite fun, which is the most important.

The car is stable although the front end is a little light; aircraft was of the F16 type. Lucky bastard I am but at last these days I am old enough and of a position where I fly a desk.
If you make it to Germany remember most Autobahns these days have some sort of speed restriction due to the number of cars, usually 120KM. As you get away from the major cities you can begin to drive but again you have trucks that are limited to 100KM so that tends to cause problems. This is why I would recommend if you want to open up your car drive on a Sunday, only certain trucks can drive that awful 100KM thus reducing the number of Opels and Fords clogging the left lane. Also realize the Germans are VERY good drivers, the Russians, Turks and Americans overall are not as experienced so watch out and have fun. Lastly you can rent a Porsche from a dealer, sorry do not remember the cost but my car is in the shop in Mannheim for a new clutch so I could check if you like.
Cheers

Track day $175/day
The corners at 80 mph are more intense. On the straights when you are going the fastest is when it is the most relaxing
Wow $6,000K is expensive!! I bet his insurance rate will sky rocket as a result of the "reckless driving" $175 is definately a bargain! The key then is to use the track to fulfill the need! I bet the corners at 80mph are more intense, and I bet you see some people slide out at that speed!

Wow really, never over 110? I've been pulled over a couple of times for driving 100 or so mph it is scary.

162MPH in the New Mexico desert @ 6000 feet. "I'm givin' it all she's got, cap'n...".
The idea of hitting a jack rabbit at that speed boggles the mind.

Rented a BMW 320 tdi family wagon in Germany. Speedo says please do not exceed 230 KPH.
So that would be 143 MPH in a iddy biddy turbo diesel? Sunday on the Autobahn this little
car did 153MPH. Astonishing. They have automated speed traps there so you really have to watch your
signs.

I've only owned my current 996 for a week or so now, but on the drive back form Florida my wife and I (and yes, she loved it) had it to about 142. It has an alignm, ent issue so I got some shakes and backed off. To date, the fastest I've been was in a precious twin-turbo Dodge Stealth @ 156 mph. I'm kinda curious as to what the 996 will go. All stock so far. Be careful!!!
