Dell, as always, your advice is invaluable! Thanks a ton.

Ddog, if we can get a group buy at Dell's prices ($249), put me down for the SmartTop, else I'll stick it out and see what happens.

Actually, you misread Dell's post unless you're talking about a Boxster. $199 was for the boxster. $259 is for the 996.

I love both the SmartTop, for the reasons Dell states .... AND the RemoteTop ... for allowing me to open the top as I approach the car in the parking lot, and close it as I walk away (or even from inside Starbucks if it starts to rain). Its all in the eye of the beholder, I guess. I've tended to do fewer of the cosmetic mods that a lot of guys here love, but I'm sure they each think each mod was a terrific improvement. To each his own.

As for price, there seems to be an advantage to jumping when you first see their products ( I first spotted each on Ebay). I paid $249 a year ago for the SmartTop and $269 several months ago for the RemoteTop (shipping included). It appears to be just the opposite of the usual premium one pays for being a "early adapter".

Kim is spot on. The best price was in the early days. Finally, us early adopters were rewarded. Still think they are WAY overcharging for this product though.

I am really happy with my smarttop and remotekey, bought them in a bundle with a helping toolkit. It takes about 10 minutes to install both in my boxster.

I paid 500$ for both - really cheap compared to other modifications like chiptuning or bodykits and other modifications.
