Default 997 look package for 996?

While checking email the other day I came across the following website that was sent to me via friend who knows I like/own P-cars. It seems that this company in France has a wide body upgrade for the 996 that makes it into at least asthetically a 997! Have any of you guys seen this site before? Looks pretty good but I wonder what it would do for the dynamics of the 996 as well as how it would affect the car mechanically.

I emailed the company and they quoted me approx $4800 US for the front facelift kit alone (997 lights and fenders, bumber and attachments) and $4800 for the rear wide body conversion.

www.jacquemond.com

Anybody know anybody who has done this or would attempt to mod their p-car in this way? Seems alot cheaper than buying a 997 for those inclinded to keep their current 996 but like the 997's more classic lines.

Rob

we are working on one at the moment. It will be available in either FRP, CF or Dry Carbon (By special request). Lights will be sold separatly (OEM porsche units) and the kit will include a front bumper, front fenders and rear quarterpanels. I'll shoot you a PM with pricing and whatnot.

If you want a 997 buy a 997, I think if you ever tried to selll the car after it would be too hard.Great if your in the bedroom.....sucks if your selling a car!

This was featured in a magazine recently and I went to their webstie where they had side by side pics of before and after and that body kit makes the car look so bad. The 997 look is not made for the narrow body 996. Looks WAY out of place. It is one of those things that you would look at and think "something just isn't right about that car but I can't figure out why"

As has been said, if you want a 997 sell your 996 and go buy a 997. This isn't the same as putting a turbo bumper on a narrow body, etc., this is trying to make your car something it isn't.

never do this to a porsche.....Porsche designs each model a particular way...that is what makes it a porsche....

Personally, I will never do this to any car, it is what it is. But thanks for the link, it's always interesting to see how people spend their money.

I bought a 996 because I think it is the perfect shape. Slim and sexy. If you want a fat car buy a 997 or a 993 or a 930. That's the great thing about a 911 they come in all shapes and sizes but they are all 911's.

WTF... Why would anyone do this? What is the point? You want a 997 go BUY one...

Besides the fact that the 997 does not look that much different anyways...

996 looks better ...

Although I like the 997 lines, I would never convert the 996 to look like a 997. Would be best just to go and buy one like everyone said. This thread reminds me of that like that guy who converted his car to a carrera GT that was listed on ebay a few weeks ago, looks way off to the trained eye.

Funny responses considering how many of you modify your cars

Look, you have a '99 that is worth $30k. Suppose you would rather update the look than pay the $55k difference....only to get into ANOTHER massive depreciation cycle.

So slap these on and pay $5k to re-paint the car another color and you've got a car that feels new.

Well the money for one.

If I had an accident and needed a front end I'd seriously consider this on my 99. The fact is, that if I was going to spend the money then I'd think.. well I should do an 02 front end.. and the VALID argument about resale issues for the 997 is just as valid for a 99 with an 02 front.

With that in mind I'd be tempted to go 997.. I prefer oval headlights.
