I have a sub in the center of the spare tire in front. The company that made it is Reus. When I bought the car I thought it was a stock Porsche part because it looked and fit so good. It sounds awesome too. Sorry but no pics. I also have an amp on the floor of the trunk in front of the tire. That is covered by a piece of board covered in Porsche trunk material. The best part about the system is that no one would no it was there unless you told them.

Default In back

got a 10" with a custom box in the box behind the seats, made it level right below that black thing on the back of the chair, covered with same color cloth, looks great like stock.

What Bose box? Is this something that they put on the car in 2002 and on? Is it possible to retrofit it to a 2000?

The optional bose system has a plastic, carpeted long narrow box that is attached on the rear shelf behind the rear seat backs. It has 2) 5 or 6 inch woofers with the normal bose tubing system. As far as I know all the 996s have the same interior shelf and seats so it should be fitable.

Attached a picture of a custom installation in my convertible.
DB drive sub, powered by a 1500 W amp (in the trunk).
The subwoofer box sits on top of my rear seat (when folded forward) and is clinched between the seat and the wind screen. I can remove the entire set-up in 30 seconds and have the car back in OEM condition in a matter of no time.

If you want to see pics of the complete install, goto :
http://www.i-mediapro.com/photos.html
and click on Porsche.

This would be an option for you if you don't want to do any drastic modifications to your car interior.

That box won't fit in the cab as pictured. No space behind the rear seats. It's all pop-up rollover protection and top.

Default No comparison!

I have two 8" subs in the rear footwells of my 00 996 cab. These subs are thinner so they sit at a perfect angle for the custom enclosures. After a year and half they sound terrific. They just sit on the floor and come right out - so instant return to stock. I can get all of the specs including the amp when I get down to my car tomorrow.
They guy who did it for me is in Sacramento. Here is his site with pics (my car)
http://www.caraudioinnovations.com/porsche996sub.htm I am now in Orange County if anyone wants to take a look (yes, I'm proud).
