Default Harness/Roll bar question

Merry Christmas! What is the best solution and source for a harness bar, bolt in product that enables tall drivers to move the seat all the way back and DE a few days a year? Thanks for your input!

I have a BK bar that I am very happy with. The tequipment bar may be just as nice. It is good to have options.....

Steve,
Are you looking for a harness bar or a rollbar/rollcage? Two very different things.

BK makes a harness guide bar, which mounts behind you on the B pillars and ROUTES your belts back to their attachment points (likely the rear seat belt mounting bolts). The belts do NOT mount to a harness bar. I don't believe they make them for 996 cars, but here is a link to one for the older aircooled 911's (74-98):
http://www.bkauto.com/porsche/r1010.php

BK also makes a harness truss (different from a bar), which again mounts behind you on the B pillars and DOES allow you to MOUNT the belts directly to the truss...no need to run the belts all the way back to the rear seat belt mounting points
http://www.bkauto.com/porsche/r1025.php
http://www.bkauto.com/porsche/instructions/R-1025.pdf

BK then makes a harness mount, which bolts behind you and attaches to the rear seat belt mount points and down to the floor; your belts mount DIRECTLY to this mount, they don't go back to the rear seat belt mounts.

BK makes a lighter variant of the one above as well, same concept.

A rollbar (or half a rollcage if you prefer) is a tubular structure that mounts to the car (floor/sills, around the top behind your head and terminates on both sides at the rear...most likely rear seat belt mounting points). Due to its design/construction, you can mount/wrap/terminate your belts directly onto the horizontal bar of the rollbar, which runs across between the uprights at a level approximatley the same as the B pillars. A rollcage is a rollbar, but continued forward, across the roof and down the A pillars, terminating the front half on the sills near the front doors. There will likely also be a bar across the driver's door (or two) from the B pillar down to the low A pillar mount. Look at any race car pic and you'll see what I'm struggling to describe.
Here are some examples of the Tequipment rollbar, with and without a GT3 seat/harnesses:

I would suggest heading over to the Racing/DE forum, as these topics have been discussed many times before. Lots of knowledgeable guys over in that forum with LOTS of experience (fabrication and racing). There are many things to consider to say the least.

You should also consider your choice of belts, as stock seats (except for GT3 seats) are NOT designed to accomodate a single sub strap (5 point...no longer recommended, 6 points or 7 points preferrred) or dual sub straps (6 point) or triple sub straps (7 points).

Have fun, be safe.
Happy Holidays,
