Post Ring and Pinion Change

I would like to shorten up gears 1-3 in the 6 speed without changing the tranny by replacing the ring and pinion. I don't care if top speed if reduced from the ~ 170. Current set-up is stock. Any reccommendations on the replacement gearing ratio? (C2 996)

Hi Mark:

I think you'll find the gearing options for the 996 transmission to be extremely limited.

AFAIK, there are no racing ratios or optional gearsets out there for these trannies and there isn't a replacement one since the bellhousing and bolt patterns are different between the 996 and all other gearboxes, including the GT-3.

We are currently testing a shorter Ring & Pinion for the 996 but its not ready for shipment, yet.
