Post Make ur own Fabspeed box for $13.66 &

reverse the process later to sell your car. You simply need two parts (part numbers from Napa I will supply along with pictures in a few minutes), and about 5 minutes to convert your stock air box into a "Fabspeed" one. The process takes five minutes to reverse back to stock.

There are two threads that begin like that one. It's about the last one down. Some messages are just subject line messages in that thread (ie: the message is in the subject line with nothign in the body). Keep going down starting from the top of that thread.

Right now though, this is what "shows" until you click on it:

If you continue to have difficulty, I'll e-mail you pics. But given many might ask for the same and I can only send 3 of the 6 pics at a time, it would be nice if you are able to see it on funcars :-)

Don't misrepresent your solution as a FabSpeed solution, there is no comparison between your Mickey Mouse freeze plug/drain plug installation to a well engineered quality product that FabSpeed produces.

You seem to be going way to far to discredit what is a legitmate company and product.

LOL!

How does anyone know how well it's "engineered" - "25% increase in air flow" is advertised and we're still waiting to hear how ole Joe knows that to be true. Similarly, it's absurd that a dyno wasn't even done as part of the "engineering". There are a couple other things a friend of mine discussed about the "engineering" of his Fabspeed "quality product" today upon close examination.

Funny but the guy who is one of the only two factory trained master techs in all of San Diego with 25 years experience here (5 with his own Supercup car servicing shop) didn't seem to think much diff existed between my $13.66 "Mickey Mouse...installation" and his Fabspeed one.

It would be interesting to know how Joe's experience matching up against this guy - and wild performance claims with no evidence to back them don't count toward that experience.

And FDR, I addressed your similar post over at Funcarsonline:

"Seems to reason that if your going to drive a 996 that at least was 65k new, why rig your car and have it be a ginny pig risking any damage at all. I'll spend the 200 bucks for a product that I'm sure Joe spent thousands in dollars in R&D and tooling to produce. I have a 82K C4 and $200.00 is small change and should be for anyone else driving a 996. If $200 dollars is an issue, sell the car.

FDR"

Sometimes the home-made crap is better! Good ideas don't necessarily come from AutoCAD engineers. A little common sense and ingenuity never hurt any field.

In 1990 at MIT I nearly cleared the entire field of 250 engineering students in the Mech E design contest (kinda like junk-yard warriors). I was a biology major with no engineering classes at all. My machine was designed in my head and drawn onto paper after I finished the contest in 4th place, humbling many computer designed and over-engineered POS's that didn't work.

Ben is trying to share with us a little common sense. He is not looking to make any money so why bash him? Does Fabspeed offer any warranty/guarantee with their products?

This is Joe @ Fabspeed Motorsport. Greetings to everyone!

Yes Fabspeed offers a satisfaction guarantee on our 996 hiperformance Cold-Air upgrade kit for all stock 996 airboxes. At $225 its a steal for what it does in terms of adding sportscar sound, razor like throttle response and power.

The Fabspeed 996 cold-air kit when used together makes any 996 significantly faster with greater throttle response and added power you can feel. Its simple to install too.

Actual acceleration testing from 3000-6000RPM shows .22seconds faster acceleration with no other changes. In addition, by simply using a BMC F1 996 airfilter with a coldair kit gave the test 996 .42seconds faster acceleration versus stock. This application provides a big gain in performance for a bolt-on system.

Further gains are synergistic when one uses a freeflow "reduced backpressure" hiperformance exhaust system. Regardless, with just this coldair kit on any 996 you'll 100% have better sportscar sound and more power you will feel- satisfaction guaranteed.
