Post The (Lady) Magnetism of a Porsche: A Gentleman's Forum

OK fellas, time to push the content edge here...all in good taste though.

I was talking with a friend of mine who had a F355 and he claimed that the Porsche -- even a 996 -- had become so ubiquitous (as if!) that it failed to become an icon that the opposite sex was attracted to anymore.

I countered by admitting it may not have the pulling power of a Ferrari, but that he was way off base if he implied that people (ladies) don't drool over our Coupe's and Cabrio's -- as they always have.

Now I know all of us buy our beloved 996's for the (raw) feeling of power, handling and style, but I'll be damned if I don't admit its a gosh-darn hot looking vehicle!

Please regale me with stories about the mouth-wide-open-can't-stop-looking stares woman give you.

Those with wives and possesive partners respond at their own risk!

Regards.

Thumbs up

well if you don't mind a non-996 owner stepping in for a minute...

i was sitting at a stop light on a nice fall afternoon last year, when this very attractive 20-something crossed in front of me smiling the whole way. she went into a store only to come back out a few seconds later. wearing a very low cut tank top she put her arms on the roof and leaned in front of the passenge window. "i had to come back out and tell you how hot i think your car is". her tank top didn't leave much to the imagination, so all i could stammer out was "thanks". she winked and went back in her store...

On the odd occasion, I see women noticing the car but generally, I find most Women have a very good way of staring without being noticed.

But thats not why we have these cars, is it???
Thats my excuse anyway.

Ive had my fair share of incidents. The silliest ones have been girls smiling at me with their boyfriends in the car, at the lights. The guys get so wound up that they race off while Im chillin...

Personally , I think that the 911 is still the most recognisable sports car in the world, simply due to the shape.

Nowadays many manufacturers are bringing out cars that have a look not to disimilar to Ferrari.

I recently had an Audi TT roadster and I got used to attracting attention and stares from lots of people, not just women, but little kids also, even with the car becoming fairly common.

After getting my 996 Cab, not many people seem to notice, but when it does attract atention, it's usually a woman, go figure.

This reminds me of a line from Gone in 60 seconds...."Saturday night is the loneliest night of the week....well a Ferrari will certainly change that."

Do you want the G-rated or X-rated post of how the ladies love going for rides in my car?

!!Sicaone...The X-rated please!!

some fun histories, once i was waiting in a parking for my wife, when this brown hair tall girl comes to ask me with a big smile the direction to go somewhere...So i explained to her how to get there..then she ask me if i could take her there!...at that very moment my wife arrives!!!
So the girl understood as my wife was very serious. I even not have the time to get her Cell.phone.

I think that since the Boxster came out, seeing a Porsche these days isn't the same as seeing one, say.....6 or 7 years ago. There are a lot of Porsches running around in general and not as many Ferraris. With that said, I recently came up to a light where an '02 996 cabrio was sitting about 3 cars up and with the driver blabbering on the cell phone a girl on the sidwalk yelled over something to him and he glanced over and the girl flashed him. The 911 is definitely still a pu$$y magnet.

later,

I have vivid memories of last summer here in London - driving in traffic towards Piccadilly Circus on a lovely Saturday evening.

I stopped at the traffic lights and the pedestrians started crossing. There was a strikingly attractive Oriental girl who, as she walked by in front of the car, lip read "nice car" to me.

Great stuff!

I am glad that the Porsche magnetism continues to remain alive and well. In addition to the hoots, stares (and occasional flashes -- wow!) that we get at lights, the Porsche connotes a sophistication, class and debonair about their owners that ladies find extremely appealing. It has been a conversation-starter for me many a time with the fairer sex, and I know it will continue to be.

As they say: you may not get la** in it, but you'll get la** because of it.

Sicaone, we are still waiting for the x-rated version.

Regards.

I want to hear the rest of Dave's story (after she goes back into the store, then what?). Also, sounds like Seattle isn't so close to hell after all...

Cool

I had one young lady say, "I'd get naked for your car!". I just smiled. I was tempted to say, "What would you do for a ride?". I'm just too shy (and happily married).

This dialogue about Porsche's attracting ladies has another side to it. I think that many women perceive Porsche owners to be self centered, small minded and insecure men who need a car to boost their self esteem. I also think that it is true that there are many women who are turned on by the car and the what it says about the owner of the car. I don't think that a blanket statement and assumption can be made that owning a Porsche drives women gaga.

A Porsche will always entice strangers who pass on the street to gesture or vocalize their support. It has to do with exclusivity. More interesting to me, however, is the reaction I get from the women who I know more formally. From them, I get a much more robust response because they are intrigued by my passion for Porsche automobiles - the history and the evolution of the brand. This, I believe, has to do with a woman's desire for behavior that demonstrates committment. They will always respond to a man who is committed and genuinely passionate - for his job, his family or his enthusiasms.
