$45,900 sounds awfully high for a 51K mile, out of warranty, pre-facelift 996. If you are in California it might fly though.

My opinion...I passed on buying out the lease on my 60K mile 2001 996 at $38K. Thought they were dreaming.

Actually, these cars go for much less than the national average in California. There are tons of them available here.

Thanks for the auction info... based on that, I'm feeling pretty good about my asking price. We will see if it sells, if not, it is coming to South Carolina. I would consider a reasonable offer. And as far as the comment about out of warranty - it has the certified preowned warranty until 04/2007.

Good luck to everyone with the Santa activites...

A good asking price would be about 1k over KBB private party good condition in California. If you can off it for KBB good condition, then you have done a good job selling it in this market.

Are you sure that the CPO goes on to the next buyer?

Good Luck

Yeah - that is where it is priced right now... and yes, the CPO is definitely transferable. However, if you trade it in to a Porsche dealer (not sure about another dealer), it would not transfer.

Star57,
I assume you're quoting US dollars and not Canadian dollars. Am I making a fair assumption?

I don't think a 4 year old Porsche with 51,000 miles on it is priced badly at 45k. What was the sticker on this car new?

Regarding the CPO.....only if it changes hands private party is it transferable. If you sell/trade-in it to a dealer then the CPO is terminated immediately. Even if you trade in to a Porsche dealer they would have to CPO it as if it wasn't already CPO'ed in order for it to sell as CPO/.

I have the sticker, but I can't remember exactly off the top of my head - I believe that the sticker was right around $87K - and that didn't include the Porsche Sport Exhaust (or the wheels).

Hi, how about joining Rennlist and creating a classified ad? That way we will tell our friends about your car and if it is legit you will sell it to someone who understands the true value of your car.
another $.02 from Stevo

Where did you put your Rennlist sticker?

Ok, 45k is about 53% of it's original value after 4 years. Not cheap, but in range of what one used to expect for a porsche. If you put it for sale here you'll be 20 % less than some of the prices I've seen on here! Good luck with your sale.

Okay, if I am going to get rid of the car and not ship it back, I want to get in done in the next couple of weeks... I decided to drop the price down to $44,600. Hopefully someone on the left coast will find the car to their liking... I have one offer, but it is just too low.

I've never tried it with a Porsche, but what about Carmax? They gave me top dollar or my Expedition.
