Post dumb question but I'm new

Hi, I've just bought a 99 model c2 and it has'nt got litronic lights and having been used to xenons this is a pain. How easy is it to convert to litronics? The reason I bought my 996 is because I got sick of waiting for my M3 to come (I'm in U.K) and realised I could afford a 996 and knowing the quality of Porsche (My mother has a 2.7 tip'Boxster) I decided to go for it and bought a 99 model c2 yesterday and Im well happy with it but the lights are very weak compared to what I'm used to.
Thanks Russell

I bought my 1999 c2 tiptronic just yesterday. Mine doesn't have the litronics either, but for a young guy aged 52 like me this is no problem. May you should visit your eyes doctor??????
Have fun with your new car

It's not very hard... about 1 hour because you have to add a control unit. Here is a link to a site that outlines the install (on a Boxster... but they are the same). I used this and it was easy.

Thanks for the replies. I don't know if I'll go ahead with the conversion yet but pleased to know I can.

Not a dumb question.
With 993 upgrade to litronic lights in UK, it is very difficult and very expensive. Theres quite a number of conversion issues.

I dont know the situation with 996s but investigate thoroughly before purchase.

My 99c2 was not fitted with litonics either, so I decided to get them installed a couple of months ago. The litronics provide a much crisper, cleaner light beam howvere, there are some sacrafices. I believe that when you order a Porsche with litronics from the factory they install additional sensors to determine the pitch of the vehicle which then in turn adjusts the litronics so that they are level. Retrofit kits do not include these sensors. The litronics are extremely bright and this causes a lot of light reflection in heavy rain and snow situations. My X5 also has litonics which were factory installed and these issues are non existent due to the self leveling feature. -Mike <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" />

In UK, litronic lights legally have to include self adjusting sensors.

I upgraded the lights on my '99C4 to litronics last year - it is a significant improvement. I had my local dealer do the installation for me - I think it cost around $1200 (parts and labor).
