PCNA Said no to replace/repair cracked aerokit. How can they do this??
My rear deck (full aerokit/one piece) has two small cracks between the vents just below the spoiler another slightly noticable but rather long crack on the engine compartment lid. The fiberglass cracks are all on the one piece deck lid/spoiler. I would like the entire deck replaced.
Well, spoke to my local dealer today and he told me the factory rep from PCNA said they would not cover this!! How can that be? They are questioning it being an option when new. He also made some statement that the factory rep ran a history check on the vehicle and said I was the third owner. So what? What difference should that make when the car is still under warranty? The car was originally titled in Arizona, then California and now I have it in PA. Well I have the cert of authenticy and the option codes listed under trunk lid and it clearly states XAA which is the option code for an aerokit. Now I have to take a digital picture and a photcopy of the option codes in my owners manual and fax it to the local guy who said he will pass it on to the PCNA rep. Why would the factory rep says it is not covered when he knows from tracing the history of the car that it is indeed a factory installed aerokit?? I wanted it replaced not repaired and they are telling me it is not even covered. I think I am getting jerked around royally. Any suggestions? ANy HELP??

RayM,
By reading our your ECU's non-volatile memory via the OBDII port with a Porsche PST2, they can determine how often (date time stamped) your car was in the rev limiter and what speed.
By inference, Porsche will then claim that it was due to track use, since it is unlikely that you would be driving at such high revs and speed on the street.
The rev limiter is designed to protect the engine from overrevving (after break in of course), but this is Porsche's thinking. <img border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" title="" src="graemlins/cussing.gif" />
You can purchase your own OBDII tool (CarChip E/X or F/X for one, recently discussed over on the 996TT board, along with sample screen dumps),
<a href="http://www.davisnet.com/drive/products/carchip.asp" target="_blank">http://www.davisnet.com/drive/products/carchip.asp</a>
so you can see this data; however you can not alter nor erase it

PCNA should cover it if the part is still in warranty. I added the factory kit to my 99 C2 after it was purchased. A year and half later I had some bubbles in the fiberglass that caused PCNA to warranty that part. Now if the aerokit was installed at the factory and the warranty has expired, you may have some trouble.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Sloth,
Car came with the XAA option factory areo kit and warranty is still in effect. That is what is puzzleing me. Why are they giving me such a hard time? I assume it is the high cost of the entire deck lid with spoiler all being one piece but the warranty is specific and does say PCNA will replace or repair to the customer's satisfaction. I spoke to the local dealershp guy today and told him I would like to deal with the PCNA rep myself and he said I would have to call the 800 umber and he could not put me in direct contact with the Rep. I think its a bunch of bull.

After somewhat of a hassle PCNA has finally decided to replace my entire rear aero kit deck/spoiler. They gave me a little bit of a hassle claiming it was an after market item which it was not. I did my homework, provided them with a cert of authenticity from PCNA a digital picture of the option code sticker attached on the trunk lid, and the option codes listed in the maintenance manual. My advice...keep good records and documentation...never know when you may need it. Thanks to the rennlisters who provided me with some excellent feedback. Special thanks to Loren. This list is a wealth of knowledge. I have definitely decided to become a member. The small cost of becomming a member compared to the excellent feedback.
